Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyUnfortunately we had an unpleasant situation with a nun during the check-in. Suddenly she said that we should pay more than what was written on the booking-reservation. She was completely ignoring the price stated on the reservation. All the time she said, that it was the booking.com fault, which of course was not true. We were forced to pay a larger amount, which was fortunately returned by the booking.com. She billed us with incorrect personal data and when I asked her for a new one, she just refused it. All the time I felt like an intruder trying to trick her. Incredible. Lousy breakfast. When we came around 08:00 o'clock, there was hardly anything left and we ate some leftovers.
The hostel is located in a girls' school run by nuns. A bit like a monastery. This place is like an "oasis of quiet" in noisy Cuzco. Very centrally located. If you need some silence, this place will be 100% for you. The rooms are simple but clean. Maybe a little bit to small for two people, but there is no tragedy. Silence and quiet compensate for all shortcomings. Very nice and helpful young man ( also the women ) at the school gate.

United Kingdomit is attached to a school and is locked and unlocked every time you come and go which can be frustrating. I returned here after trekking for 5 days to be told that I couldn’t stay for the four days I had booked and only able to stay for two. this was because they had a big party arriving but I had booked months ago and it was confirmed by booking.com - in the end I only stayed 3 nights and had to change rooms after two. there was problems with the booking and I had to inform them what I was to be charged
clean and comfortable

JapanThe one small issue was when I was checking out. I had to go look for one of the maids to tell her I wanted to check out and pay.
The staff were all very nice, breakfast was great, the room was comfortable and quiet, and everything was clean.

FranceYou don't have your own key to go in and out, meaning you need all the time ring a bell to get in or out.
Great location for main attractions in Cusco, and really quiet to have a good sleep.

BelgiumDuring check-in they said repeatedly that something went wrong on Booking and that we apparently paid too little (1/3rd of the actual price). They did not request us to pay extra, but during our entire 5-night stay they were not friendly and they treated us as criminals, although it was not our fault something went wrong on Booking. Breakfast was included and started at 7am. But we did some tours where we had to leave earlier than 7am and they did not want to give us a breakfast to go "because we did not pay enough" (were their exact words). WiFi in the room did not work properly. The only place the wifi sometimes worked sufficiently was downstairs near the reception. Small rooms. The scoring is considering the price we paid. If the price is normally 3 times higher, it's not worth the money.
Very centrally located.

SerbiaThe hostel’s entrance gate is locked and you always have to ring and wait a bit to enter. Usually someone comes quickly (2-3 minutes) to open, but I didn't feel good about having to disturb the staff and workers who are tidying up around the school. I know that there is such a practice in this place, it has already been worked out and it works well, only every time I was a little uncomfortable that someone had to run to open the door for me.
It's a Catholic school for girls, but it doesn't work because of Corona. The room (I’m single) is small, but it has everything, even a desk, that I need because I’m a writer. The shower in the bathroom always has hot water. The staff is very kind and whatever you ask the head nun for, she will say - no problem. Breakfast is plentiful and a little different every day, what I like. And every time you get a bowl of fresh fruit with the obligatory juice. I was the only guest in the hostel and it was very quiet. There is also a small garden, with a table and chairs, where you can enjoy.
