Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SwedenWe stayed two different times, the first room we got was great, the second one very worn out. You hear everything people say outside your room so if someone is up late you'll notice , but it was alright for us.
The location is great. It is great value for the money. The woman that runs it is helpful and sweet.

CanadaI was so freezing cold the whole time I was there I had to move hostels to somewhere with heat. Also I noticed they didn't seem to change the sheets/pillowcase between guests which grossed me out a bit
Staff were amazing so friendly and understanding. Tours you can book there are best priced in the city. Perfect location in the heart of San Blas walking distance to everything you could want

BelgiumWe came back 4 days after a trek. we had reserved orally 2 more nights, but the owner didn’t really reserved a room for us and there was thus no room available when we arrived at 8pm. She fortunately found us a room in an other hostel, at the same price
Really cheap, clean

United StatesThe downstairs rooms aren’t ventilated well because they have no windows. The rooms feel a little damp because of this. The upside is that they’re all private rooms. I’m sure the upstairs rooms are much better because they all have windows. Because of the dampness in the lower level there is a little bit of an odor but it’s not a big deal.
The hostel is very cute. The location is amazing for anyone interesting in doing day tours or tourist stuff. This is very close to the main square, it’s also just down the stairs from “the view” which is beautiful. There are a few common areas to sit inside and work or meet people which is so nice. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Mariam was very flexible and let us extend our stay 2 times. The kitchen area has a really pretty view of the city of Cusco as well!

CanadaPillows and sheets were not washed for each customer. Sometimes, there is a shortage of hot shower. It took one hour to be served a basic breakfast (two pieces of bread and a banana). A towel and toilet paper were not prepared.

United Statesno refrigerator the old one broke and they never replaced it, Hot water for shower was limited mostly to mid morning. Power and internet off for an entire day as the wiring where the fuse box/breaker box use to be but no longer there shorted out. Long hike up the hill from the main plaza, Bring your own toilet paper as a supply is not important at the hostel. No English spoken. Breakfast was 2 small pieces of bread with jelly and a banana and coffee. Hostel owner/manager had birthday party in the comon area and kitchen for very young girls (children) that went on for 7 hours and claimed the hostel for that time period. Few pots and pans and cooking utensil which were not needed because there was no refrigerator. It appears the hostel is financiall mismanaged and priorities are not directed towards the guest. Find another hostel.
Bed was alright only good comment.

NetherlandsThe bathrooms were not clean, super small and there was often no toilet paper. You have to climb over the toilet to get to the shower. There is only a super thin plastic wall between the bathrooms, so when you're in the shower you will be able to share in the toilet noises of your neighbour. The hot water is not stable. While I was in the shower the staff turned on the washing machine (next to the shower stall) which meant I didn't have any water at all. The organisation of the hostel is chaotic. Often it is difficult to find someone to check in or check out. My second night (I went on a trip and came back so had to check in again) a girl of about 7 years old checked me in. She brought me to the wrong room and charged me too much, luckily I was able to correct her. I did not want to pay with her (I had to get change which she was not able to give), so I asked if there was an adult to help me. There was not. In the end I paid the next day, even though she kept asking me for money. The hostel was very noisy, due to the open construction (a terrace around an inner garden) and wooden floors. Staff do not try to be quiet, there was a lot of yelling and children running around both late at night and early in the morning.
The beds are comfortable, the hostel is cheap, the location in San Blas is great.
