Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesWe were advised not to open the windows because of mosquitos and the windows did not have screens. So the room was a little warm at night since while we could not access a cool breeze.
The staff was very attentive and helpful. We were met at the train station and walked the two blocks to the hotel. The staff provided us the key information to obtain tickets to Machu Picchu for the next day. We needed to obtain a ticket to get in line later in the day. This was not mentioned in any guide books and was critical. The room was very clean and well appointed with a nice view of the town and rushing river. Breakfast is the morning was also very good.

BrazilIt's not really a negative point, but just a characteristic that affected a lot my stay: the beds were too soft. Checkout time seems very early to me.
Very well located, close to restaurants and the main points, such as the bus to Machu Picchu, the train and all the other necessary points in the city. Good and varied breakfast, with a timetable adapted to the needs of the early visit to Machu Picchu. Besides this, the staff were attentive.

United StatesNo complaints.
My stay at Jaya Machu Picchu Boutique Hotel was truly delightful! I highly recommend booking a room on the river view side, as the soothing sound of the river throughout the night was incredibly relaxing. The breakfast, made to order, was absolutely delicious! The location of the hotel couldn't have been better. Within minutes, we could walk to the bus for Machu Picchu and to the hot springs. Additionally, there were plenty of bars and restaurants nearby to explore. One charming highlight was the nearby bridge where visitors could put locks on; we found it super cute and enjoyed the experience! Overall, my experience at Jaya Machu Picchu Boutique Hotel was fantastic, and I would definitely stay here again.

BrazilThe regular room have internal windows (open to internal corridors) and when people passes or uses the stairs to access their own rooms you can hear their conversation, waking up some times.
The bath tub is the star in this hotel, so when we arrived tired from many walks we could rest on it. The beds were comfortable and specially the Staff (Victor and the other guys) have been great, picking us on the train station, giving us all the tips and instructions to Machu Picchu and even helping us with our bus tickets. The breakfast was very good, one of the best we had in Peru, they cared to ask us ahead what we would like and had it ready 5AM in time for us to go to Machu Picchu in the first visiting hour. I would definitely recommend staying at Jaya when you go to Machu Picchu.

CanadaMy only complaint about this place: - Since the breakfast starts very early (5am), and it’s offered at rooftop, you could actually hear people moving their chairs at 5 am hence you won’t be able to sleep much. I suggest to management to at least put a carpet so guests won’t have to deal with those noises since 5 am and be able to sleep properly
- Very friendly staff - Beds are very comfortable - Amazing view of the river (if you take river view) - Breakfast at the rooftop with a stunning view - Hot tub in the room

United StatesStaff were great in picking us from the train station late at night and also check us into the room with no hassle. They gave us the best room available. X00 rooms face the river and X10 rooms face the mountain. Both types of rooms had amazing views, and the staff allowed us to change the room midway through our stay. Complimentary breakfast is great and is ready by 5am. You just have to sign up the day before for breakfast options. 5 min walk to the bus stop to get to machu picchu.

United StatesWe were put in a room that overlooked a futball/soccer field with a very loud MC on a microphone that was counting in Spanish on the PA for hours after the evening game was over. It almost sounded like a loud recording? I had booked a room overlooking the river, but did not receive that. We were only there one night with a very early 4:30am wakeup call and 5:10am departure, so that part was fine. However, we never received our breakfast that we pre-ordered and was assured it would be delivered at 5:00am before we met up with our trekking group. We looked around downstairs and in dining area, but no one was there.
Nice, clean room with comfortable bed and wonderful high pressure rain shower. Appreciated that the front desk offered us umbrellas when it was pouring rain outside.
