Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaParacas is a small town. The hostel is located on the outskirts of the town which is 10 minutes walking distance. The door is closed after 9pm and sometimes you have to ring the doorbell 3-4 times before someone comes to answer the door.
Everything is fine.

United StatesOur room was a little dark and could use a brighter ceiling light. It would have been nice if breakfast provided some fresh coffee, but this wasn't a deal-breaker. 🙂
Quiet and comfortable room. Did not have A/C but the wall fan was sufficient along with the window left open for ventilation. Breakfast had fresh bread and juice. Located 7 minutes away on foot from the main street of Paracas. Free bag storage. There's a kitchen with basic amenities that we used to cook our own dinner.

PeruBreakfast was just bread and juice. I only had bread as I was concerned with the safety of the water it was made with. It was a little out of the way of the main activity but we didn't mind the walk.
Room was comfortable and cool.

Czech RepublicThe breakfast could be a bit bigger or at least have a salty option, although the strawberry juice was delicious.
Very lovely receptionist who asnwered all of our questions with smile! Located in calmer area but still very close to the city centre.

GermanyBreakfast is nearly not existent because it is so less. Rooms upstairs are pretty hot all day and night long.
It's a bit outside of the centre, so it's more quiet. But like everywhere in South America it is still loud at night. The staff is friendly.

GermanyAs stated above, the first room was very hot and the bed wasn't very comfortable and the bathroom had no window. The second room that we could choose was darker, therefore colder and there was a small hole in the bathroom which helped with the heat.
The owners were the most friendly and helpful possible. We could switch rooms after the first night as the room was really hot and we didn't have a good night's sleep. They kept the house clean and we felt really at home there. Also, the house is very quiet at night as it is at the end of the town. Despite, walking to the centre takes only 5 minutes. Perfect location.

Belgium• breakfast is very basic but fair for the price you pay: fresh juice, bread, marmelade & butter • the triple room we had had no windows • there was not even a table in the room, a simple plastic chair for 3 ppl, room is very basic but again fair enough for the price • bathroom was very basic but toilet was even too much, there is very and missing pieces • a bit further from the centre but not too far, 10min walk • cash only to pay your stay (no card)
• it’s a family own guesthouse • they’re flexible for breakfast time • the owner was caring and nice, only Spanish speaking of course • breakfast is very basic but fair for the price you pay: fresh juice, bread, marmelade & butter

GermanyInternet reception in our room was almost non-existent (we had the last room down the corridor). Bathroom without a window for ventilation.
Clean and cozy room with an open inner corridor to sit and relax. Basic breakfast with Peruvian bread, tea/coffee and fresh juice. Very nice and friendly owners. Good water pressure.

BelgiumWalls are not very soundproof. Paying with credit card is a 5% surcharge, however this is the case in most smaller places in Peru.

MaltaWe had one of the rooms with the private bathroom and it was very comfortable, the breakfast was basic, although the fruit smoothing made a good start to our day. The hosts did your laundry which was great! It was not more than 5minutes away from the main seafront street.

United KingdomLocation is a bit outside of the main part of town - no problem during the day, but at night we were advised to take a taxi
Small, family-owned, welcoming. We needed to leave a bit before the breakfast service started and they offered an earlier breakfast. There was plenty of hot water in the shower (not always a given in Peru)

NetherlandsThe two person beds are small. The rooms are not cleaned during your stay. Not much light in the room. Not the hostel for you if you want to meet fellow travelers.

FranceWe didn’t feel very welcome and the breakfast is very basic except for the nice fruit juice. We were told it’s at 7:30 and we had to insist to have it later - the latest was 8:30 (but actually there is nothing “warm”, it’s just bread and jam so we didn’t understand why we couldn’t just have it when we want!). Not a lot of natural light in our room. We stayed 4 nights and the room was never cleaned.
It was a quiet place, perfect to rest. The room was comfortable and the shower warm. There is a kitchen we could use. Good quality price ratio.

United StatesThe room was quite stuffy, despite having a fan on and opening a window. Breakfast was very basic, bread and avocado with a smoothie. The hostel is the farthest point possible from the boardwalk and beach area. The bathroom was not cleaned during the 3 days 2 nights we were there.
The beds were quite comfortable and it was very quiet. We had a private bathroom, though it was in the hallway. As it is quite small, there's plenty of fridge space and a microwave for leftovers. There's cable TV in the room. Free towels and soap are provided.
