How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

There is a crying chicken near the hotel
The room was so clean that i could see how professional they are. And the hosts were very friendly, kind and professional.

There was a rooster crowing early in the morning. I had read reviews, so came prepared with ear plugs. Would recommend the same to others that may be light sleepers.
Matty's house fit the bill. We were looking for a place close to the airport to get a quick shower and a few hours of interrupted sleep between arriving into Lima and catching an early flight to Cusco the following morning. We paid extra to have Brandi pick us up and drop us off at the airport and they were so kind and patient to wait with plane delays. We were very happy with their service and grateful we opted to begin and end our trip to Peru with them. They were dependable and provided peace of mind that we were looking for.

Hauling my (some) of my luggage up the stairs - but then I'm an old fat guy (and my wife bought too much stuff). They also carried some of my wife's stuff for us.
A great family run business that personalized our stay there on 2 seperate dates. Very clean, Pickup and delivery to airport (for a cost). Close to the airport but far away that planes could not be heard. Eating opportunities close by. Definitely would stay there again.

Everything was great.
Brandy was the best. She was very responsive and picked me up her from the airport. She made us breakfast herself too. The room was very clean and also close to the airport. I needed a place to crash in Lima for 12 hours before heading back to the airport and this was a perfect option.

It is a city property and you can hear city noises. If you need lots of quiet it may not be the best spot for you.
We needed a place that was close to the airport and the Matty House was perfect! The owner's daughter was very friendly and helpful! They picked us up from the airport and gave us a ride back. We were traveling south a bit and then returning a few days later and they kindly stored our extra luggage while we were gone. There are various restaurants nearby.

Being close to the airport it is a busy location. You are going to have the noises of the city.
We needed a place close to the airport as we were coming in and out a couple of times. The owners let us leave extra bags that we didn't need while we traveled down the coast. That was very helpful. They also picked us up from the airport, drove us to the rental car place and drove us to the airport very early in the morning. It is close to a bunch of places to eat.

I liked it all, nothing negative to say
They picked me up at the airport, met me with a big and welcoming smile. The room was high standard, close to the airport. They delivered extra service by bringing me to the medical clinic, I felt very taken care of, like family. Recommend highly!

The hot water did not last very long, although I did take a long shower! The neighborhood was a little noisy, but it did quiet down by bedtime.
The hospitality for this small homey lodging was superb. Family run, very friendly and highly accommodating. The room was very nicely set up, included Netflix, YouTube, etc., and a very comfortable bed. The best part was how I was treated by the hosts. I would very much stay here again in a heartbeat.

Nothing at all
We loved our stay at Matty House. Brandy was incredibly kind and helpful and made us a lovely breakfast far too early in the morning to be expected cause we had an early flight- it was so nice of her! As for the place itself, it was lovely. Super close to the airport- a 5 minute drive! The room was very cozy, maybe the cleanest place I’ve ever stayed anywhere in the world, and had an excellent shower and one of the most comfy beds I’ve ever laid in! Will definitely stay again next time we swing through Lima!
