Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyThe wifi didn't reach all the way to my room, but it was all the way in the back, so maybe it's better in other rooms.
Great price, very affordable and good value for money since it's cheaper than most other hostels and you even get a private room instead of a bed in a dorm. Friendly hosts, mostly Spanish-speaking, very attentive. Very easy to book tours, average prices. I did 5 in total (Churup, Parón, Laguna 69, Pastoruri and Pico Mateo) and all worked out fine with pick up at the hostel (drop off usually in the city centre, so 20 mins walk back). The showers! 100 % reliable, hot and with a good water pressure. Just what you'd want after a long hike. Breakfast included, although if you're doing a lot of tours, it's likely that you'll miss the time slot (8 to 9am) often. Flexibility of the hosts. Since my room wasn't booked for the night when I left, I was able to use it while waiting for my nightbus. Very good wifi in the hallway and common room. Shared kitchen and comfy couches in common room.

GermanyWe stayed at Montanero Hostel for 4 nights and had a great time! Thank you! Everyone is friendly and helpful. We could check in early and check out in the evening. The breakfast was varied and delicious. The bed was comfortable, hot showers and the kitchen was well equipped. We booked tours for a fair price. All in all, great value for money.

BrazilThe hosts were great and we felt very welcome here; very helpful with local tips & attention. Good kitchen and the breakfast was top! The clothes dry very fast on the rooftop. The location is a bit off center, but still within a 15-minute walk. Good overall vibes added by the volunteering couple

DenmarkInappropriate manager. He used the whole day drinking in the reception. The entire place was stinking of alchohol. He was drunk and very unhelpful. We couldn't even stay for one night. Please don’t go here. Especially as a woman, as the manager gave sexist comments.

RussiaVery dirty, thick layer of white construction dust everywhere on the hostel, including the rooms. The room smells with dust. it seemed that they never wash the floors with water after guests, they just sweep the floor. immediately after check in I asked the manager (Angel I believe) to redo housekeeping in the room because the floor was dirty, he said “yayaya later” and never did anything. Balls of dust under the bed, dust everywhere on bedside table, windows, all the surfaces. It was very unpleasant to stay there. I ended up washing everything myself, including the floor because I couldn’t stand breathing this dust anymore, the water was black from the mop, i washed the floor it at least five times and it was still dirty. i attach photos as proof, it s disgusting. the entire hostel is in this condition, incl, the common area and kitchen. I attach photos. bookshelves, sofas even main table in the living room has visible thick white dust on it. it seems they haven’t wiped dust in a year, looks like it s not a thing there to wash anything with water. unbelievable. I have never seen such things in years of traveling the world. They sell ILLEGAL tour! they sell tours on site which is fine, but when I asked about Laguna Paron they gave me a price 80 soles. Later the tourist agencies in town all told me that it was ILLEGAL to take tourists to laguna Paron because the access was closed by the government since July 2023 due to risks of flooding and landslides, with part of the road already destroyed. no agency in town will agree to take you there - well, doesn’t seem to be a problem for these people…… The manager in montanero (Angel) never mentioned anything about and didn’t give me any warning about the risks and danger of going there, he was happy to sell me the tour. Unbelievable. Room was extremely cold, to the point that it s uncomfortable to do anything there other than hide under 4 layers of blanket. you are breathing freezing air lying in bed.
cheap (as it should be). they let me check in very early at 7-8am when I arrived from night bus, which is nice, and it seems to be a customary thing in this town. most hostel will do that.
