Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

During our stay in Peru, we had the pleasure of experiencing the unique charm of Second Home Peru, the Peruvian artist Victor Delfín's mansion. From the moment we stepped through the front door, we were greeted by an atmosphere of elegance and artistic flair. The entry hall welcomed us with its grandeur, adorned with large Versailles-style mirrors that added a touch of opulence. This grand entrance led us into a dining room with a coffered ceiling, exuding a sense of refinement and sophistication. On the other side of the first floor, we discovered a lounge area that sparkled with stained glass windows, showcasing an impressive collection of ancient pottery in curio cabinets. The focal point of the lounge was an exquisite inlaid piano, adding to the ambiance of artistic inspiration that permeated the space. Throughout our stay, we were captivated by the mansion's seamless blend of history, art, and luxury.

United StatesWow staying here felt like hitting the jackpot. Ocean views and breezes, historic building, AND it's not just a place "with art," it's the former home and current studio of Peru's greatest 20th century artist. This is undersold on the website. In the heart of Barranco with galleries, parks and cafes galore all within blocks. We met Delfin in his remarkable studio.

CanadaThe apartment room did not come with AC but the seaview with balcony room did. On the flip side, the apartment came with a fridge and the seaview room did not. One other thing to be aware of with the apartment room is that here are only curtains in the bedroom. From the ocean-view seating area, you can look directly into the living space of the apartment. I found we mostly stayed in our rooms and did not utilize the gorgeous space as you feel a bit like fish in a bowl. We stayed at several hotels, through tour groups, and we did notice that other hotels would negotiate taxi prices for you when they called but Second Home does not. They will call a taxi for you, but the negotiating portion is all on you. Also, not all the employees speak English, which is fine but just be aware and have Google Translate on standby. Lastly, there isn't any seating at the pool so if you have the ability to pack a fold-up chair, which we saw one guy bring, do it!
The location of this hotel is what makes it worth the dollar value. In a busy city like Lima, you feel secluded and safe in this quiet area. At the same time, the location is close enough to several amenities and included in most tour pickup options. We chose to walk to the market a couple of blocks down and stock up our fridge with water and snacks. Breakfast is the same each day, it is good but if you want some variation, there are many restaurants and cafes on the same street. The beach is a bit of a hike but worth it. The hotel is located close to some wonderful sights like the Bridge of Sighs, so walking around and exploring was always enjoyable. We had read comments saying that the pool is cold, and it is, but with days nearing 30C, it was refreshing and cool. We spent the last two days of our trip lounging by the pool and swimming.

Gorgeous location right on a cliff overlooking the ocean with stunning views. To top it off it is at the end of a very nice street with several good restaurants and bars. The pool was superb and so was the balcony of our room (1)

United KingdomThe property was like a second home. Tranquil and relaxing with many good restaurants close by. Markets and shops too. The staff were relaxed and attentive and we enjoyed talking with them about the area and life in Lima. The views from the hotel were incredible. It was an art gallery inside and around the property, so it was hard to leave and see other things during the day. We are so glad to have stayed here on our last few days in Peru, to close our journey with some very special memories. We would definitely recommend this property!

United KingdomI can’t think of anything.
It was wonderful to be in the home of Victor Delfin. His art is absolutely everywhere. It was pure pleasure to be immersed in such talented & prolific creativity. The house has a wonderful character and I loved being able to see and hear the sea from my comfy bed in my room. The staff are friendly and helpful. I got my washing done there. Breakfast was served on the terrace in the garden which I liked. The house is on many levels and is very beautiful and quirky. The pool is great to cool off in and the hanging chairs are somewhere to relax in the garden by the sea.

United StatesThey didn’t have air conditioning yet. They said it would be installed soon. It got warm but it was also nice to sleep with the windows open and hear the ocean.
The location was great. The street it’s on is a dead end and the property is the last building so the block is super quiet. Walk a couple blocks and there’s plenty of activity. The whole property is amazing and it’s the estate of a famous artist. The sunsets are perfect and it truly does feel like a second home!
