There is hot water in the showers, but it doesn't get hot enough.

Sonesta Hotel El Olivar is the only place we would consider staying at in Lima. The location, the staff, the ambience, and the amazing breakfasts are just some of the reasons. I have been traveling to Lima for the past seven years and we alway look forward to our return to this fine hotel and the lovely Olive Grove surrounding it. Again, the staff is first class, and they usually remember my name and always try to do anything to make our stay memorable. Thank you Sonesta!

A very nice boutique hotel, cosy, charming and very well located in the traditional neighbour of san Isidro, close to the main business centers and nice restaurants. Attentive staff, impeccable room, good breakfast and adequate price. A highly recommended place.

I should have extended my stay at this hotel

The hotel staff was very helpful, specifically Roberto who was able to accommodate every need we had. The hotel breakfast is very good, the gym came equipped with a variety of machines and weights, the suite was very spacious and had nice amenities. The hotel was in a very nice and quiet area of San Isidro, very close to other popular areas of Lima.

Some of the breakfast staff were almost ignorant. Another guest and myself had to walk into the kitchen to get served. Maybe they should get the same service training as the front staff ;-)

The hotel is nicely located in a safe area of Lima right in front of a park and with nearby restaurants. The rooms are large and well equipped and the staff at reception is very attentive and helpful - this is why I always stay here when I am in Lima

Looks like an old hotel but very well kept. A/C controls difficult to set. Plants and gardens in the room need more care.

We arrived, and there was a small inconvenience with the room we had booked. So we got an upgrade, effortlessly. The suite we got had jacuzzi, sauna, a nice living room, and a terrific balcony with a view of the Olivar park. The location was peaceful and quiet.

Quite old facilities. Not that something is broken, but overall you have a feeling that the hotel needs refurbishment. Limited options for breakfast and generally restaurant service quite slow. Expected a bit more being a 5 star hotel.

Not expensive. Great park (el olivar) just in front of the hotel. Friendly staff.

Old facilities; not sufficient elevators; could clean the hallways more often; air conditioners are old. Very expensive though. No value per money.

Also the room we were given on the second visit was old and run down. Moths in the room and a dead spider in the bed.

I stayed here for 3 nights and had a perfect stay however we returned for one night and the hotel decided to charge us an extra %10 service charge in addition to booking.com price already agreed very disappointed in how rigid the receptionist Cecelia was when checking in, it was very much a case of computer says no attitude. Such a shame to leave with a bad impression now as our first impression was very good.

All the 6th floor corridor smelled like boiled chicken, and other odors coming from the kitchen, what makes it extremely unpleasant entering or exiting the room. Even though there are many lights in the bathroom, the lighting is inadequate. Water pressure is low, and hot water is hard to get. The air conditioning unit rattles like a steam train and doesn't cool well.

Overall hotel location is great, staff is very attentive, restaurant and common areas are great. Cleanness is good in the room and bathroom. Courtesy water is greatly appreciated.
