Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsHard to get around without asking Nestor to bring you by boat- you need to be prepare to stay at the island, or do some of the tours offered, but restaurants and the city are not in reach.
Unique place to stay- on a tiny floating island at lake titicaca. Great view from the rooms and little verandas, hot shower. The host Nestor, living on the island with his family, was very friendly. He shower us around the other island and offered different tours (from 45min, showing how to fish and how the reet is cut, and some local traditions, up to a full day tour. ,

Ukraineeverything need to pay extra: want to get to the island? - pay. Want food? - pay. it’s normal, but I also saw lots of experiences like this, when everything was already included in the price. keep in mind that it’s getting very cold in the night. no heating, obviously.
right on the floating island, had a chance to immerse myself into the culture of indigenous people. amazing views

United StatesAfter the sun goes down, it gets very very cold. The room didn't have any heating (everything is solar-powered on the island), but we did get some warming bottles and lots of blankets. I was initially cold, but got very hot during the night :-)
This was an amazing place. My room had a huge window overlooking the lake and the sunrise. Very nice deck with lounge chairs. Very very friendly hosts, Nestor and his family. Delightful food, very simple but very fresh and tasty. I loved this place.

United KingdomWe booked for 2 nights and knowing there wouldn’t be anything to do on the island, we booked a junior suite described as having a lounge and dining area. The plan was to relax, play cards and have somewhere to sit in the evenings (too cold to sit outside). We did not get the room we had booked so we had nowhere to sit other than on the bed.
The location of the accommodation was stunning. You’re in a genuine reed island in the Uros on Lake Titicaca. It doesn’t get better than that. We arrived into Puno late but Nestor picked us up in his boat (15PEN PP each way). Our hosts, Nettie and Anna, were very welcoming. Anna took us on a tour around all the islands in her boat (15PEN op) and Nestor took us out to explain some of the traditional methods they use for fishing, reed cutting etc (15PEN pp). The beds were very comfortable with plenty of blankets - it gets very cold at night! The bathroom had a warm shower (eventually) but water from the sink was icy. It has a “dry” toilet which at no point smelt. Breakfast was basic (cheese roll, banana, bread roll and jam with tea) but it was sufficient. Anna cooked us a nice lunch (chicken with veg) which we paid 25PEN each. Being on a reed island and watching the sun set over the lake was a wonderful experience.

GermanyCommunication prior to pick up needs to be improved. The communication runs through a coordinator, not the family. The family needs to pick you up with a boat cause the islands are remote. We were supposed to be picked up at the harbour at 3:40pm however we were forgotten and got picked up 1.5h later only after a local man contacted the family! Upon return we let the coordinator know about this and the otherwise pleasant stay. As a response he changed our booking details, so that we couldnt leave a review (booking.com fixed this for us). The family is very nice just the coordinator left a bad feeling. Also be aware that the required transport by boat is 60 soles for 2 persons (both ways) and there is some kind of entrance fee to the Uros islands of 8 soles per person.
Good stay at Nestors place, simple but great experience to stay at the little floating island. For an additional charge they cooked nice dinner (25 soles) and gave us a tour through the floating village (15 soles).
