Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsThe bed wasn’t that comfortable, but we still had good sleeps after all the hiking. Keep in mind that the city center of Huaraz is a 20-25 min walk downhill.
Tony’s House Hostel was everything that we hoped for and even more. We stayed for 10 days but felt at home immediately. Carla is a super sweet and helpfull host. She knows how to create a nice environment and she knows how to cook (do not miss the Aji de Gallinas, her cakes and her pizza’s). The big garden is perfect for yoga, to relax in the hammocks or play with the dogs. Breakfast is simple but good, including juice, coffee or tea, an egg, bread, butter and jam. We had the double bed room with bathroom, it turned out to be the chalet next to the shared kitchen. It is the best room at the hostel with a little balcony with mountain sight and a private hammock-chair.

AustraliaThe breakfast was a real treat. Carla was an excellent host. The location although far from town was exactly what I needed for some peace and quiet, to ground and acclimate to the altitude. The garden area was perfect for laying in a hammock, reading my book and doing my morning exercises.

United Kingdomvery basic rooms but understandable for price. not as sociable as expected but maybe due to visiting in shoulder season.
Overall a nice property - very good value for money considering how cheap it is. Breakfast is super tasty with bread / jam, eggs, juice and a hot drink. Rooms clean with shared hot shower. Chilling area js nice with Carla’s gorgeous dogs. Carla also cooks really delicious food in the evenings for good prices.

GermanyWe loved our stay here in Tony's house. The atmosphere is amazing and Carla the owner is an angle. She helped us with booking the agency for the Santa Cruz Trek or the bus for our following journey. She bakes the best pies and pizzas btw;) We wish you all the best Carla, thanks for making our incredible stay here in Huaraz possible.

GermanyDue to the weather and bad insulation, the room was pretty cold (but this is probably common in Huaraz). The bed was really uncomfortable (especially for taller persons), however this was the only big downside to this apartment. It takes 20min to city, just be aware of it! :)
Carla was really nice and helpful. She happily stored our luggage and allowed us to shower after the trek. Good breakfast, but nothing special. The dinners were really delicious and cheap, thank you again!

From two travellers from Denmark: Big thank you Carla !! And thank you to other guests of course.

United StatesWifi wasn't very strong in my room, but it was good in the common area.
This is a great place to stay in nature. There are a handful of time surrounding a large lawn with a full kitchen, restaurant, hammocks, etc. The owner Carla is amazing! She makes great breakfast, dinner, and desserts, and can arrange many kinds of treks. Lots of folks here are staying for a long time, so there's also a great chance to meet people and learn about the area.

United KingdomWe would recommend bringing ear plugs wherever you stay in Huaraz due to the consistent noise from traffic, explosions and stray dogs in the city. The hostel itself was quiet but the city is very loud!
Coming back to Tony's House after trekking Santa Cruz and then again after the Huayhuash felt like we were coming home. Carla is the kindest, most helpful and hardworking women, and an incredible chef! The hostel and garden is beautiful and a great place to meet like minded people and play with Carla's dogs! We thought the distance from the center of Huaraz was definitely a positive.

CanadaLike almost anywhere else in Huaraz, everything is in CASH. They won't accept your visa/mastercard for payments but it's typical everywhere in Huaraz.
The staff are friendly. There's a plenty of cool areas to relax in common areas. Common kitchen with all you need to prepare food for yourself (if you don't want to order from the little restaurant there) It's really clean. The bathrooms are cleaned twice a day and sheets, liens and beds are cleaned as soon as a guest checks out. Cozy location. far enough from the busy city-center and at the same time, just a 10 min walk to get there.

United KingdomBeds were uncomfortable. On the first night, there was a hole in the mattress and my partner had to sleep in a V shape. We were able to move to a bigger room with slightly better beds the second night, but still uncomfortable. It was extremely loud at night with lots of street dogs outside the property. Breakfast was nice but small. It seemed very commercial focused at times.
Very cute and big garden to chill in, well equipped kitchen, nice shared areas

JapanI don't know why this hostel is rated this well. It was my first time being told I had to turn off the lights in my room by 12 midnight. She didn't mention I had to turn off the light by 12 midnight when I checked in. I had to pack and organize things, so it was really annoying when she told me that at 11:45 or so. Especially her attitude sucked she looked even angry. And she explained to me that I have to turn off the lights by 12 because my room is a dormitory and I pay less. This makes no sense. I pay to sleep in a room just like other guests. This is the worst place I had ever stayed. Also she told me I cannot leave the light on when I leave the room. I left it on maybe for 10 mins or so to eat. That's why maybe she was angry but who gets angry just for that? It was the worst hospitality. Also, I didn't really feel welcomed when I checked in. I didn't like the fact that the clerk spoke English many times to me even though I told her I prefer Spanish and I was speaking Spanish without problems. Also she looked like she was in a hurry and I felt restless. And I saw some dead insects in my room. I didn't find the room clean. The shower was really far from the room. You have to get outside the room, get out of another door to go outside and go down the stairs then you need to walk a bit to get there. The two dogs should be on a leash. Another guest was annoyed by them because one of the dogs jumped at her to get food. The clerk warned me that the dogs could jump at me. Why do you leave them off a leash? The hostel looks like it's in a quieter area on the map and yeah it's kinda in a quieter area but it wasn't that quiet. Also I woke up in the early morning because a bunch of stray dogs outside were barking. Also the area didn't seem safe either. There are better areas. I didn't extend another night and left the next day. There are a lot of other better hostels.
Didn't really like anything about the hostel except that there was no one except me in the dormitory. No me gustó nada de este hostal excepto que no había nadie en el dormitorio excepto yo.
