How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

No toilet seat, remote control didn't work and they never tried to fix it so the TV never worked for us. Breakfast was very basic, not great

I couldn't find anyone when I arrived so ended up hanging around for 15 minutes until someone appeared. Could do with a bell or something to get the owners attention upon arrival, without having to shout (I heard someone shouting late looking for the owner). Staff was nice enough but not overly friendly. Lacked common areas but it is more of a guesthouse than a hostel.
Quiet location off the main street. Excellent buffet breakfast that kept me going the whole day. Dorm room was fine and comfortable enough

The only issue we had with this property was the check in. No one was on the front desk when we arrived and the contact number that we were given was unanswered. We had to wake over half an hour for someone to show up so we could check in and she wasn’t particularly friendly. This could easily be solved by the receptionist having her phone on her at all times (it was left unattended at the front desk)

There is no air-condition in the room. There was only a fan, and the room was quite hot.

Place looked unfinished, didn’t stop the noise from outside very well. Construction out the front meant there was no proper walkway entrance

The hostel lies off the main road and so a bit difficult to find, but it is very close to the city center!

Double room very spacious and modern. Great hot shower. Location is good as it's close to the beach but off the main road so it is quieter. Staff don't speak much English but still very friendly. Kitchen is ok to use.

The staff didn’t speak English, which was fine, but it was hard to get information at times. There was normally nobody on reception so you had to wait a while or look around for someone. The shower appears like it is only cold, but you need to turn the hot water tap on and leave it for about 5 minutes, then it is hot. It can be a little noisy as there is little sound proofing between rooms. I was supposed to have a nice window and balcony/terrace, but only got an internal ground floor window. The key was finicky and it could be hard to properly lock the door.
It was close to the main street of Paracas, although most hotels here are. The bed was very comfortable, and it was good value for money. The breakfast was basic but nice!

Reception person was rarely available at the desk. Breakfast was included in the very cheap price, but the breakfast was very basic. Bring earplugs for sleeping as the soundproofing is bad.

Water pressure is very low (but maybe it's like that in paracas 🤷🏼♀️) Something like a shelf or wardrobe would be good.

Really noisy mostly at night and the curtains did not block the street lights which was always on at night though the window. Shower pressure was quite low and need maintenance to have hot water.
