Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

South AfricaSlight walk to the centre but the hostel is worth it
Wonderful place that felt like an airbnb for an incredible price. Fully equiped kitched and a bar connected to the hostel. Everyone was extremely lovely and helpful with booking anything you might want to do in the area.

United StatesFantastic hostel, close to several bus stations including the colectivo station for Urubamba/Ollantaytambo and the PeruHop bus terminal. Great areas to lounge, privacy curtains on the bunk beds, clean, comfortable mattresses, good WiFi, hot water in the shower, friendly people at reception, and they were even able to store my bags for me. I didn’t have to wake anyone up to leave at 3:00 AM for a rainbow mountain tour, unlike some other hostels that deadbolt the door at night; I had a key that would let me in and out. Everything I could want in a hostel.

United StatesI can't even think of anything. The stay was so short and for the 2 hours that I was awake, everything was amazing!
I loved the the host was very communicative and fast with accommodating my afternoon booking for an 11 pm check-in time. I also liked that the host made breakfast promptly and helped me get a taxi in the morning.

BrazilReally enjoyed my time here, such a lovely and quiet place, it feels like home, the facilities are very good, hot showers, clean bathrooms and rooms, nice kitchen to use, the beds are so comfy, and they have curtains! Nice and filling breakfast. It’s located 20min from the city center which for me isn’t a problem as I like to walk, but i can definitely see how it might be for others. Thanks for welcoming me.

PeruIt is indeed a bit out of the city centre. Because tours are offered it is not easy to get informed how to visit the places without a tour. Pay attention to the prices because booking shows sometimes lower prices than the effective ones.
Simple hostel but it has everything. Beds are comfortable. It is out of the city centre (5min walking to the main roads of the centre, 15min to the main square/cathedral). Anyway I felt quite secure to walk alone in the night and in the early morning since there is a military centre just next to the hostel and the streets are controlled. I appreciated that it is possible to use the kitchen and cook dinner. There are a lot of toilets with showers (with hot water also in the night) so you will always find one free. You can book tours at fair prices directly at the hostel and they organise everything for you.

United KingdomApart from just being a lovely place to stay, Praxi (apologies for the spelling?) was and exceptional host and amazingly patient about explaining what I needed to do regarding tours. Something I'd never come across before is curtains around bunks. Genius idea! In short, it was so nice I stayed longer than planned.

MaltaIt wasn't super clean. I found hair on the pillow case and also in the bathroom. For the rest it was good.
Hostel staff super nice, they accommodated us with all our needs; we had clothes that needed washing, they managed to find us a laundry that washed them and returned them in few hours.

United KingdomIt was a little bit difficult for the taxi driver, from the airport, to find the hostel.
Praxi, the manager, is very welcoming and friendly. The beds are really comfy and the hostel is spotlessly clean. It's in a quiet part of Cusco, just a 5 minute walk, across Puente Grau, into the city centre. Each room has an allocated (lockable) bathroom. Nice chill-out area.

LithuaniaThe space. Toilets, showers, they are realy tight, rooms have enough space, “living room” doesn’t has much space too.
The view is really nice, it was clean, cosy, quite quiet, breakfast was not so bad, but for me, it was weak, I mean not very filling, but I eat a lot so this one is on me. Location at that time was perfect for me, because next day I had to go to Terminal Terrestre, which is not very far away. But it is a bit away from centre, maybe like 1.5 km, so if you want to get to centre you need to walk a little, but for me it was really fine.
