If you have any problems with your health please don't go, it's not for you, it is very hot there, no air-condition area, and the nearest doctor in 40 min by boat.

Very interesting authentic place. Real Tuamotu. Good charming island. Nice friendly people. Capitan knows the see. Chef cooks testy. Snorkeling with the sharks. Nature. In public area there is a fridge and microwave. Good idea to take with you as much water drinks and dry snakes as you can. Take all kinds of some protections to.

it would be great to improve some facilities to make it more comfort.

Location is everything! very good staff. it's very nice place to do snorkelling. corals nearby are in good nature and untouched state. the sands, beach, lagoon, fishes, sharks, kayak... everything are amazing. you can go from one motu to another just by walking in the water. the host helped to book a day tour that visited a bird island and a beautiful motu that has many sharks suggest to read all the comments to understand what the hotel provides. Take two parts into the consideration when you decide to book this place: firstly, this is a wonderful place to visit. secondly, there is a hotel on the wonderful place. it met my expectation.

Owner could have been friendlier and credit card payments did not work — they required a wire transfer which was odd and inconvenient.

Remote location, but enough comfort for our family.

I wish there was air conditioning, but with the windows and porch door open we were comfortable.

The location can’t be beat. We were right on the waters edge. I could see the sharks swimming in front of the resort. I loved the seclusion and the food was great too. The staff were also very accommodating.

Salty water in shower and sink It’s half board, and dinners were okay (medium quantity and quality). Breakfasts are simple but just what you need. Be aware it’s a remote location and pretty basic services are provided, which for us was totally okay but not for everybody

Stunning location, private island with a few bungalows that are truly in the middle of nowhere, for total relaxation and disconnect from the world. Clean rooms, nice and kind owners who run the place Kayaks available to explore the untouched islands around

I honestly don’t understand the comments on some people. This island represents 0,00001 % of this earth. Respect the place and enjoy it. Respect that people working on this accommodation must also get some rest, they may not be there for you 100% of the time. Even so, they will help you even in their resting time if they will be around. You are communicated from the begin about the rest time (13:00-18:00), there are posts with their schedule and it’s no one fault that you are not reading, not respecting. Even priori to booking it’s mention to let them know in advance, if you need any other services. It’s a very small island, they need to prepare in advance. Don’t come here if you’re looking for a 7 star serving. This is not for you. People who appreciate nature and simplicity will enjoy this

Everything here is out of this world. I gave some other properties a 10, but this one worth more than that. Just go there and enjoy. The ocean, the lagoon, the simplicity, the silence, the waves, the nature and I could go on and on. It’s a very small dot on this planet, so don’t go there with 5* hotel expectation, but with 100* experiences. You will find a confortable and spacious space, very clean and you will find people. With heart, with empaty, smiling and singing, living their lifes.

The food was good but a bit repetitive. They are a remote island so that is to be expected. Not a real issue, just wanted to mention it.

If you're looking to get off the grid and away from it all this is the place! It's a 30 minute boat ride from the main island of Tikehau and a world away from the hustle and bustle of Tahiti or Bora Bora. Such a great place to wind down and relax at the end of a French Polynesia vacation. Be sure to stop and check out all of the hermit crabs! We'd happily return to this little gem.

Wifi unreliable, tap/ shower water unfiltered, fruit not always fresh. Nothing major when considering the remote location.

Beautifully located on a remote motu with view over the lagoon. Already much to see when snorkeling right next to the beach and kayaks were available for further explorations of the lagoon and the channels. Lovely staff, felt like friends immediately, rather than customer. Food was fresh and plenty. Pancakes and Baguette for breakfast and three courses for dinner. Mainly fish with sides.

Hakamanu Lodge is a lovely property. Its remoteness gave us one of our most peaceful stays ever.

    • Couple

    • Stayed 4 nights

The lodge does have a nice beach with some small coral heads to snorkel around and some kayaks to explore the mutos and channels. This was more than enough to keep us occupied for our 3-day stay. However, this lodge is quite far from the main island in Tikehau. Because of this, if you want to do an off-island excursion, such as scuba or snorkeling with the mantas, etc. there is often a surcharge to be picked up. There is not alternative transportation. These fees are charged by the excursion companies for the pickup, not the lodge. If you want to do a lot of excursions, this could add up. During our stay the internet was a bit unreliable. In our room (which was one of the furthest from the main facility), we rarely had service and even when up at the main facility for breakfast or dinner, it was not always working. This may just have been a timing thing, where it was having problems when we were there. But that was not a big problem for us as we enjoyed being more unplugged than expected at times.

This lodge is extremely secluded and very peaceful. This was exactly what we wanted. It is a 20 minute boat ride from the airport, and just about as far from any other resorts. The only people on the muto (small island) were the other guests and the lodge staff. While we were there, it never exceeded 20 people total. Other than at meals, we hardly saw any other guests as we were out exploring the area. Our room was a lovely bungalow on the beach with a nice deck looking out at the water. While it didn't have air conditioning, the breeze and a fan was typically enough to cool the room down, except in during the hottest parts of the day. But the ocean, 20 feet away, kept us cool and comfortable if the room and deck were too warm. The food is served family style and was very good. As expected there was a lot of seafood in the meals. Their soft drink and alcohol selection was limited, but prices were very reasonable.

Dinner time is a bit short and sometimes we would have wanted to hang out a bit more at the beautiful restaurant area but I fully understand that the staff is waking up very early to prepare the breakfast so no big deal at all.

Waking up with a view of the Tikehau lagoon feels like you are in a beautiful dream with one of the clearest watercolor I have seen in my life. The guesthouse sits on a gorgeous motu and it's easy to get from motus to motus by walking or kayaking. We loved exploring the area. Rose, Manu and the staff were amazing guests, very friendly and helping with activities. The food was also very good. I highly recommend it.

We didn't like that the proprietors allowed a family with two toddlers to stay at the resort. The parents wanted attention and imposed the kids on other guests. The children were noisy. That family was even permitted to come on our boat trip to see the manta rays. The boat was small and of course preschoolers can't swim. It was deep water, so the parents held the kids. while treading water. That was not safe. Swimming capability should be a requirement for that trip. In addition, we were paying for the tranquility of the resort and allowing little noisy children to stay there disturbed us. It's not a kid's place, since there's nothing for them to do there. The owners may make less money by not accepting toddler children, but they would have happier, more relaxed adult guests.

We loved the lagoon side bungalow located right on the beach with a nice balcony. We also liked the meals that were served. We enjoyed swimming in the lagoon from the beautiful beach area.
