Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

DenmarkWe could have used a sign on the balcony in our room that warned us against the stone fish that apparently were present in the reef below. We had no idea we were not allowed to go swimming from there.
The staff was so friendly and welcoming, and they upgraded us to one of the beautiful beach bungalows instead of a regular room! The view was spectacular (but really, where on Bora Bora is it not?) and the room was nice, big, and clean. It had a coffee table made entirely of glass embedded in the floor so we could watch the fish swimming around in the water below. Loved it! We went for the happy hour at the hotel bar - they serve really good cocktails!

Czech RepublicWe lacked any Hanger for drying wet swimsuits and towels. Neither on the large terrace nor in the bathroom was there anywhere to hang clothes and beach towels.
The hotel was clean, the garden well maintained, the staff friendly and helpful, the breakfast sufficient.

CroatiaI paid extra (abt 25%) for ocean view room with “stunning view” (according to the description on Booking.com) but could only see a very small patch of the sea (and none when sitting down on the balcony). Room allocation seems to be a lottery and if I was staying at this hotel again I would certainly not pay extra for the ‘view’. In addition, the room had an interconnecting door for the neighbouring room which means there is no soundproofing and I could hear people in the next room talking at normal volume. I raised the above issues with the management but they only offered to comp food which I had limited use for as I was doing outside activities. Rooms in general are quite dated and could do with some renovations.
Great location, walkable distance to Matira beach, shops and restaurants. Resort grounds are well kept by staff, beach is small but very nice - amazing snorkelling just off the beach! Rooms are cleaned well, cleaning and upkeep staff are attentive.

United KingdomThe hotel is on the sunrise side of the island but you can head to Matira beach for the sunset which is only a short walk away.
The staff are really friendly and helpful. The little beach is well maintained and has some great snorkellkng spots to access with snorkels from the hotel. The food and drinks were average but the location of the beach side bar/restaurant is ideal for a drink before dinner/during the day. The room was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed with a stunning view across the lagoon (we had an ocean view room). There is a small supermarket up the road for any essentials and an Avis rental to hire bikes, cars and scooters. The hotel arranged for a transfer to/from the ferry port to get to the airport at an extra charge.

Perfect location, close to the public beach. The hotel has also private beach where the snorkelling is not bad. Good breakfast options! Nice view from the room. As our room was not far from the reception, we could have the wi fi connection also there 😀

SwedenSome things are started getting deteriorated. Maintenance should improve. Ex: the fan in the bathroom would sometimes work, others not, very noisy. The fridge door wouldn't close fully. would very often open by its own so it didn't keep cool enough the inside.
Easy direct accès to beach & walking distance to big public pretty beach. Perfect for beach walking. Rooms are quite enough spacious and nice size terrace. Good bathroom.

United StatesTransportation to/from the ferry is offered, but at an extra cost. At ~$30USD, for a 7.5km trip for two, was probably more than a taxi.
Great location, with a short walk to Matira Beach for sunsets, a couple of good off-site restaurants, car rental and grocery stores. We paid for a beach front bungalow and ended up with an over water bungalow.

United StatesThe staff was not always friendly. In particular the boss lady in the morning and the lady who served us at the restaurant the day we arrived. For that reason, we avoided the hotel restaurant for the rest of the trip and went to another place down the street. We asked for late check out (knowing they did not have anybody else using that unit that day) and the lady in the morning told us we could not. Although we saw from the beach nobody went and clean the place. For $800/night, you would hope they would be more accommodating.
We spent here 5 days of our honeymoon. We booked a over the water bugaloo. It was great. And the price, compared to other on the islands, were more affordable (still expensive). Room was great and the water around amazing. They have great coral in the hotel beach. Breakfast was good and had plenty of choices, but the quality was so and so. Great location. There is a place close by where you can rent kayak and boats. We booked a boat tour with the hotel (lagunarium), and it was awesome! Easy to rent bikes close by at AVIS. Great location to do a lot of excursions (by boat or bike/car). Bed was super comfortable, and the place were quiet. Great happy hour and the bartender was super nice.

AustraliaWifi not being available in the rooms.
We extended our stay in Bora Bora due to it raining for our entire 4 day initial itinerary and us not wanting to miss out on experiencing BB at its finest. Initially we stayed in the Overwater bungalows at this resort, but for the additional days we downgraded and stayed in a garden suite, which did the job perfectly as we were outside of our room all day anyways. However, it must be said that on the rainy days we were very happy to be in an OWB when confined to the resort for extended periods. Maitai is a great place to stay in the best location on the island. The resort reef is great snorkelling but you absolutely must also do a private boat tour through the activities Centre, you will not regret it!
