Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesNo wifi except at pool and restaurant. The fridge was nice to have but is too small for much use. Extra fans are needed since there's no AC on the water front Bungalow.
The staff especially Tom at the desk were awesome. The ocean front Bungalow has incredible views

Netherlands...there is nothing to dislike about this place
Where to start? The view from the lodge, stunning location, staff, the fishes swimming around your cabin. The recently opened gecko restaurant. The sunsets (did I mention the staff?)

United StatesThe noise is pretty noticeable in the rooms so if you are a light sleeper it might bother you. Also the bed is hard, but I didn't mind that much. The facilities are a little run down and could use some maintenance like the decking. For the price we paid it was worth it in Bora Bora. The restaurant was just opened when we were there and very nice but kind of expensive when compared to the accommodations. Just to note, pool is salt water. We had a guest i had to get out of the pool, a crab. I found that funny.
The location to town was close so walking to stores or food trucks was easy. We had the overwater room which was awesome to just sit out over the water with the breeze. Not a lot to see in water as it gets deep fast bit still pretty cool. You could snorkel.right there too and see some things but had to stay close, again gets deep fast so can't see. The hosts were very cool, down to earth, and accommodating.

United StatesWe booked two bungalows. The one with the kitchen was fine but the kitchen was lacking in basic utensils. We had to buy a few utensils in order to cook every night. The beds are a little on the hard side, but the pillows are the best we had during our monthlong trip.
The owners and staff at Oa Oa Lodge are friendly and helpful. We spoke with the cleaning ladies every morning. One taught me a little Tahitian every day. The best part of the property is the location. We had an overwater bungalow, and I spent a lot of time perched on the balcony just taking in the view. Every day I also spotted plenty of wildlife from the balcony. I saw turtles, sharks, rays, and a variety of fish. The last day we were there, a mother whale and her calf swam by. If you are on a budget, there are two large supermarkets within walking distance. We visited them daily for lunch and dinner.

AustraliaWe were quite disappointed with our bungalow's lack of maintenance and how tired the place looked. Half the light globes were missing or not working, the airconditioning unit seemed not to be connected, although the ceiling fan was quite adequate. Several of the cupboards were ill-fitting or missing hinges, the lighting in the bathroom was most inadequate and no basic toiletries were provided. The sliding door leading onto the balcony was very difficult to open and the bed, while large, was far harder than we are used to. Provision of a bar fridge however was appreciated. While the above comments may appear to be critical of the Lodge, we do realise that this standard of accommodation is not to be compared with that of a $3,000-4,000 per night resort.
We loved the overwater bungalow and the superb view from the balcony. The hosts met us at the Vaitape wharf and transferred us to the Lodge, explaining shopping hours and other details along the way. Breakfast on our first morning was basic, and we enjoyed using the pool. The hosts were also most helpful in arranging pre-booked tour pickups and a transfer to the Bora Bora Yacht Club restaurant. The transfer back to the wharf at the end of our stay was also handled in a timely and efficient manner.
