Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

PhilippinesWhen we visited Banaue the town was undergoing a major upgrade and therefore it was a bit like a building site. Even the hotel were we stayed was being extended although the work was almost complete. The town proper was still a working Filipino mountain town that had not been cleaned up for the tourists, which give us a glimpse into the lifestyle that would have prevailed over the recent years. All of this building work did not impinge on our enjoyment of the area, though for future visitors it may well be a different experience. The main road into Banaue is undergoing major widening projects which will make the journey safer for touring drivers. They are building lots of large dwellings on the outskirts of the town, perhaps guest houses or hotels. I hope they don't go too far and turn this rugged mountain town into a tourist mecca like Boracay, but perhaps what will save them from that fate is their remoteness which is also one of its most attractive features.
When I booked I asked for transfers from Cauayan to Banaue (4 hours driving) and from Banaue to Baguio (7 hours driving) and I am so glad that we did this. Their young driver Yves was brilliant and made both of the long journeys memorable. We travelled in daylight and were able to see some of the breath taking views and experience the terrifying drops in complete safety. He took us to some of the best eating places with the most incredible views on the way. These journeys were highlights of our trip that we will never forget. The hotel is on the outskirts of Banaue proper and is exactly as advertised. The view from our balcony over the local rice terraces is wonderful. Our room was clean and everything worked, the en-suite had flushing toilet and a hot shower. (Often in Filipino hotels, especially in small remote towns, the shower is a large barrel of water that you pour over yourself using a small pot). The breakfast omelettes were great and our hostess, Irene, was friendly and informed. Coffee was so good we brought some away with us. We had one evening meal of a humane version (the chicken meat was beaten after the chicken was killed) of the traditional Pinikpikan dish which Irene prepared for us. We also had a great traditional meal at the 7th Heaven restaurant in Banaue town. We had booked trips through Irene's brother, Ulyssis, and these ran smoothly. We took the hour hike over the stunning Hapao rice terraces to reach the hot springs for a long soak to refresh us before making the return hike using a different route over the terraces. We also went to the Batad rice terraces. But there are lots of other interesting places, caves and mountain tops, to see and visit so it would be easy to spend a week there rather than the two days we had actually in Banaue. All of Benguet is beautiful with small rice terraces dotted all over the place.

ItalyBanaue is a bit messy if you have to drive yourself, so being already on the road going to Batad, saved us two crossings of the city. The landscape from the windows is spectacular. Good food at good price. Probably the nicest thing about this inn is the staff, Irene and her family are exceptional, very helpful and empathic.

GermanyI think wifi was only available at ground level. But for this kind of vacation, maybe it's not necessary everywhere. Living room for everyone is cozy
+ Very warm welcome with coffee and toasts with peanut butter + nice chats and stories about the surroundings, history and other useful information + overwhelming view from the balcony + very delicious food! + offers affordable trips to Batad and the surroundings I should have planned three nights, because I drove by rental car by my own from Cauayan, and this takes minimum 3,5 to 4 hours = took a lot of the leisure time.

United KingdomThere was a lot of the menu that wasn't available.
The host and all staff were extremely lovely and very accommodating. It had a real cosy vibe which is what you need after a good hike in the rice fields. Location is excellent, a good balance between Banaue viewpoints and the Bahad rice fields. The food that was cooked tasted incredible. The room was a very good size with great views.

United StatesIt is pretty loud in the morning outside due to the animals (e.g roosters) on the nearby farms. We wanted to get up early to go see the terraces but could be issue for light sleepers
The owner (Irene) cooked food for us when we arrived. She was very helpful throughout our stay and helped us organize a tour the next day. We ended up spending a lot of time with her as we went to her other property/restaurant after our hike on the terraces. Loved her :)

IndiaThe food was a little pricey for this hotel. Most dishes were priced at 185 peso per dish so a family of 5 will end up paying more than 1000 peso. Also, there was no electricity backup when the lights went out. No fan in room. Daytime was hot so I suggest that every room should be equipped with either a ceiling fan or a stand fan.
Friendliness of the place.
