Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

HungaryIt’s a bit strange to share this but i must to warn fellow travelers. So I asked the owner guy about booking a trusted driver to avoid scams - then ended up feeling ripped off by exactly the guy he recommended.. It was off in every detail . Driver arrived at hotel ‘to negotiate’ , I don’t even know why he couldn’t have asked these prices straight on the phone… Isn’t exactly this transparency that should be the norm? Anyway As im talking to the driver I quickly realised that I won’t get a good deal. When i told him my best offer he asked the owner for approval - as if to know if he should take it or not. Owner gave the pass. - an interaction that’s been unprecedented since the 10 years I’ve spent on and off on the road. Then took the 30kms ride for 1000 pesos. If this is not bad enough, the driver had no clue where the new accommodation was. In all fairness he seemed more like a dude who has a car than someone professional. After asking around at a local barber (!) then some tricycle drivers, he eventually got there. If i were the owner i would make sure to recommend correct businesses to my guests. Im conclusion, if you are sensitive to being overcharged like i am dont take advice from the staff members or get a quote on the phone before anything else… Photo attachment of one of the ‘driver’ is asking for directions.

GermanyThis was a short time booking, cause I had to find something and was already evening. When I arrived nowbody knew anything about my coming and I had to wait 45min for room cleaning. When I had a coffee on the commom veranda in the morning there came a phillipine girl (not very cute) and asked me to join my shower and give my contact details. It seems she was known by the owner and part of the staff

FranceVery noisy, just along the main road. Traffic never really stops. Beach not a real beach: shallow waters and rocky.

United Kingdomwhere do I start ! room dirty ( old socks under bed ) had to ask for toilet roll air con broke ( thankfully a fan was working) toilet didn’t flush The hand soap that was supplied, was really smelly. Had to shower in it. Was not pleasant as there was no shower gel supplied. owners stuff, i.e. curtains bedding hanging on the handrail where the guests are ? generally the owners clutter doesn’t need to be seen by guests I need to point out. I have stayed in many apartments and hotels on Booking.com. And I’ve never felt the need to put a review. Sadly, this place has forced me to.. but not in a good way I would not recommend this place. The owners seriously need to up their game . It’s such a shame because it’s fantastic location . Rob ☹️

PhilippinesThis hotel severely misrepresented the room we rented. I strongly suggest that Booking.com consider disassociating itself from them to maintain your credibility. We rented what was claimed to be a "villa" but in reality it was a room with thatched bamboo walls baking in the direct sunlight without AC. It was over 40°C before noon and by sundown would have been well over a safe temperature. Also after I booked and paid Booking.com, the hotel contacted me directly trying to get extra money from me. We just took out bags and left, never to return.

FranceCareful Fake pictures , there is no private beach ,the pictures of the house posted is not updated as you can see on my pictures from this week ,the owner rent downstair ,it s a Thai restaurant with terrace. So no exterior to chill. Room no sea view , street view on cimetery with very noisy traffic and only a wood panel to separate both rooms ,no privacy at all, you can ear people as they were in your room. Bonus: you have to pay cash , then when I discovered that the place is not complying with what it is presented on booking.com (like 30min after my arrival ) I informed the owner that due to the fake presentation of this I would stay only 1 night and told him to put straight the room available for the following days and asked to be refunded. He tryed to discuss to keep 3 nights , I said ok I will stay 1 but you keep the money for 2 fair enough for the inconvenience. Rico ( owner) said that my money was in the safe in a desk , that he will give me back the day after, just saving time ... On the next morning, pictures posted has been removed and policy modified , so he said he would not give me back any money ,I can stay or leave . He kept all my money 7000php / 130 euros for 5 nights ,I slept only 1, no breakfast included. This is fake advertisement. I m a very active member on bookin.com , first time in many years I had this situation. Place to avoid
