How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Location is great. Only 10min from the busy area so a lot of privacy and very quiet. Perfect place for someone who wants to explore the south part of the island by motorbike.

It was a little further out of the town but was not a problem at all with a bike and was more peaceful.
The property was clean, nice and modern and the staff were incredibly helpful. I can’t fault our stay here!

Everything. It is cozy, colourful, comfortable and convenient. We really enjoyed our stay. The hosts were very helpful, friendly and flexible. The room was clean, well thought through, and we had new sheets every day! Location is also great as it is walking distance to the only real beach in moalboal; white beach. You can rent a scooter at the guesthouse at a very good price. Most negatives of other people are really not a problem or it's due to their own fault. Within this price range it's a really good deal. Thanks Theo for the nice chatting and extra care when needed. Auf wiedersehen!

The second and third nights there were some ants in the room and bathroom despite not having brought in any food. A bit far from town but worth it for the lovely accommodations.
Super clean room and comfortable bed. Decent water pressure, good hot water. Staff were so nice and helpful. Very quiet area.

Not a beachfront but very pleasant. property. The garden is beautiful. Helpful staff. You can use Gcash to pay for breakfast. Great jump off point if doing sardine run at Moalboal

Theo and his family were absolutely lovely, the kindest host. They made you feel like at home and went beyond to make you feel comfortable and made sure you had everything. The property was very clean and well maintained with a beautiful garden. Would recommend staying here.

A bit far from the town centre, but with the motorbike is less then 10m, can hire at the property :)

The staff was cery friendly. They cooked for us, they kept the place extremely clean, you didnt even had to ask because they already knew what you need. The room was spacious and cozy, we had a proch and an outside area for relax and eating. The place was away from Moalboal, therefore it was quiet — very much appreciated. If you're going to work - can recommend as well.

Astillos guest house stay was stunning. It is very clean, hot showers and nice comfy bedroom. The grounds and gardens are beautiful. Very well maintained. Theo and the family are so friendly and helpful. Always greeted with a smile. 100 % would recommend staying here. We enjoyed a few nice beers and chats in the evening with the family.

The German owner is a very nice man. He made sure we had everything we needed for our stay and often went beyond our expectations. His property is very clean and well kept. Overall, a great stay at Astillo’s guest house, we would definitely stay again.

We had a perfect stay. The first night without street noise, dogs or roosters!! Very pleasant and friendly staff/owners. We feel very familiar and like by friends. The location is not far from white beach and we enjoyed the sunsets every evening. Scooters are uncomplicated to rent. The entrance gate is always locked and we felt very safe. Our room was new and very clean... with silent AC, hot shower with pressure, wardrobe, fridge and work station. Coffee and drinking water are free. In the nice landscaped garden you have the oppportunity for sport and relaxtion. The breakfast was delicious and you could order it late. We had a very nice quiet stay and can definitely recommend the accommodation.

There’s not much to dislike.
We LOVED staying here! We felt safe, comfortable and cared for. The room was small but well fitted with plenty of storage. It was also extremely relaxing to be there. There are cooking facilities too which were great and well equipped. Theo and his family were some of the kindest hosts we have come across. We would always choose to stay here again in the future.

Some rooms have the bathroom outside in the garden.
