This is an amazing place to stay, not only for the beautiful rooms and delicious breakfast pancakes, but also for its people. We had the chance to meet Cara and Marco, the owners of the place and they were just super nice and helpful - felt like a family. Also, we had our incredible receptionist/friend Ien, who helped us during our whole stay; transfers/bike/places to visit and so on. We did such a nice group of friends from all over the world in Mao that we even went for dinner and party together ;) Clearly, thanks to Mao Mao we had the opportunity to meet so many nice people… Surely, we’ll come back. Thanks for everything!

It was very hot cause no AC but good thing they provided us with another fan. We had a hard time taking shower as the bath tub was very high. lol. 😁 Location is bit far from the centre but if you rent a motorbike then its ok.

Bungalows were cozy. Staff specially Yen was very friendly and accommodating. The pancakes for bfast were really good and the coffee. Great value for money. The owner Marco was very helpful too. 5 minutes drive to cloud 9.

I had a great stay at Mao Mao surf. The owners and staff are incredibly welcoming and it's a lovely oasis to chill between surfs. The eggs Benedict was fantastic and very reasonably priced.

An unforgettable stay at Mao Mao after extending our stay twice, we are already planning on returning to the warm welcome of the staff and awesome owners that made us feel right at home. Booking tours, surf lessons and getting around the island was super easy with the help of the Mao Mao tribe. They had loads of recommendations on where to eat and what to see on the island. Very helpful staff and receptionist. The location and everything on it is very well thought out, clean and convenient. Beautiful inside and out! The highlights being the ice coco coffee and delicious smoothie bowls, the best we've had on our whole Philippenes trip, no joke! If the location, people and food at Mao Mao aren't enough to convince one to visit, then I FEEL like the furry friends should do the trick! Cat cuddles on a rainy day and a wagging tail everytime you enter Mao Mao made us feel part of the family. To conclude, Mao Mao surf is exceptional! Until our journey brings us back.

There's no bidet.

My first night at Mao Mao Surf was the nicest sleep I had in a long while. I always have trouble sleeping well at night, but in Mao Mao Surf, I slept like a baby. Even inside the room, you'll still feel one with nature. Everything was also thought out so well, from the location of the light switches, electricity outlet, and the materials that was used for construction such as the glass doors and mirrors. Everything was conveniently placed such that you have nothing to worry about but relax.

The pancakes and coffee are the best! Plus, the staff, Marco and Cara (and their pets!) are fantastic. They made sure we are welcome and enjoyed our stay :) I would love to bring my friends again to their place! Overall, the aesthetics are superb. :)

Loved everything! Breakfast is incredible (the pancakes are the best), rooms look great, bed is comfortable, shower is nice and special, Cara and Marco are just amazing, and I could probably go on… The surfing lessons, the day tours, the transfers, or casual chatting, they were so nice, helpful, and fun to talk to. I stayed for 5 nights but I definitely would have stayed longer if I could. Siargao is an awesome place to sightsee/surf/relax and I’ll definitely come back to the island and to Mao Mao

Marco and Cara are simply amazing hosts. They really have an extraordinary way of taking care of guests. They are always willing to go the extra mile and they will make sure you’ll never have any shortcomings. They arranged the airport shuttle in advance to make sure that our transport from the airport to their accommodation went as smooth as possible. Upon arrival, they sorted us out with a scooter pretty much immediately. They also got us good prices for surf lessons and other cool activities on the island. What made our stay at Mao Mao unique on top of the amazing hospitality was their breakfast and specialty coffees. Their famous banana pancakes and smoothie bowls are literally to die for. All in all, by far the best value for your money!!

MaoMao is a beautiful place to stay at. The staff was very kind and helpful in providing motorbikes and tips for surfing and places to discover around the island. The rooms are adorably cute, boho style with lovely decor and plants. The mattresses are super comfy, the fan powerful, and the shower has hot water! The location is peaceful and being slightly further from the beach means NO BUGS! The breakfast smoothie bowls and pancakes are by far the best we found in the Philippines!! And the pets are kind: give a little pet to Skull&Bones (the kitties) and Zorro (the good boy). About Siargao: it is rebuilding quickly after the typhoon. The greenery is lush, the waves are gorgeous for surfing, the community is kind, smiling, resilient and great. Many wonderful places to eat delicious food, including vegan and vegetarian options! A very special island.

Siargao is recovering from a devastating typhoon and much of the island is still rebuilding BUT everything you need is still here, a great opportunity to visit as numbers of tourists are still low but the surf is perfect and the nature is magnificent.

This is a perfect stay for aspiring or committed surfers and nature loving explorers alike. The staff are wonderful and very helpful - I could not have had an easier stay - surfing guides and boards were all arranged in house. A terrific experience I would thoroughly recommend.

Cara and Marco are very hospitable and accommodating. They were very helpful and responsive to all our needs. They anticipate our requests ahead of time and prepares things we might need even before we ask. Would definitely recommend this place.

Good location away from the hustle and bustle. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, and loved the resort animals! Accommodation was comfortable and suited us for what we needed.

Unfortunately we were really disappointed with this place even though we read a lot of Good reviews. We spent 3 nights there and we wished we had not booked so many nights in advance. The first night we almost did not sleep since there was a loud party right next to our hut. Also the heat was terrible and the fans did not help. Also the bathroom door didnt close properly so it kept hammering against the Wall all night. The following nights there were no parties, just the heat, Barking and howling dogs and what sounded like an army of frogs right outside (be aware where you step in the Dark). We also did not experience the same friendly vibe as everywhere Else we went (with the exception of one receptionist and the male owner) - when we checked out they didnt ask about our stay and didnt say goodbye. They also charged us an extra fee even though the booking said all fees were included. We were very relieved to move on to our next hotel which was same prize but a 2-floor villa by the beach with a/c and the friendliest people ever.

We liked the laid-back style of the huts - they were cute! Food was also okay!

No AC in the rooms which is very uncomfortable to sleep in, the airflow is quite stagnant despite a fan being provided which leads to the hut being warmer than the outside at night time. Also realise it’s an island stay but felt we had to mention that we saw a large rat run through the reception area on our first day, there was a dog and multiple cats that chased it away, to be fair it’s an outdoor stay so not much can be done in that area! Also while showering one of the days a frog fell out of the shower pipe which was a bit off putting. Also there is wifi that works in reception area but doesn’t reach the huts.

Very nice small island huts, very much as seen in pictures. The setting is lovely and quite intimate, the staff and owners are extremely helpful and have great recommendations for whatever you’re looking for also. Room is cleaned each day with fresh towels provided, food seemed nice also although we only ate here once. Motor bike can also be rented for 400 a day which is needed for getting around to see the island.
