Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomI feel the majority of the time we were there, there was either no water or a power cut. At night this was hard as we could not charge our phones and the aircon and fan did not work so we were boiling and unable to sleep. I thought it was across the whole island so could not fault the hotel but talking to friends other places still had power. But considering the price, I can’t complain much. Still a great stay regardless.
Really great property, fantastic staff. Perfect location, 5-10 walk. Offer a lot of activities and sociable.

FranceNo running water for the shower nor the sinks . You gotta wash yourself with the water that dripped all day from sinks into a big bucket with a smaller bucket. But I had been told it was common in Port Barton. Some staff members were very unhelpful. I asked for a towel to the night staff cause mine had been taken away from the drying line after a long day traveling . At first got told that the storage room where they kept it was locked for the night . Then after insisting, they actually had the key and led me to it. Upon arrival the person realized they didn't have any extra towels ( crazy) and then that same person handed me a dirty one she found in the dirty laundry basket, telling me if it was OK to use that one. I refused of course... Disappointing and poorly handled all the way
Good location. Modern facilties. Comfy beds. Powerful AC. Social mostly in the dorms than in common area. Some staff members were nice and helpful.

New ZealandThe water was not available every night I stayed there in the morning and the last 24 hours there was none. The type of people that this hostel brings in were rude, it would be late at night and they would come into the rooms and talk loudly, not caring if anyone was asleep. Even though port Barton had lots of water outages there was no plan in place for when there wasn't water. The lockers were quite small along the bottom of the lower bunk and were numbered in a way that wasn't practical. The side where the ladder was for the top bunk was the lower bunks locker.
The property had different events on each day, there was a water cooler available. There was beanbags and tables to sit on/at

United KingdomIt’s a hostel so noisy people and loud music from the bar until late. Everything is compacted and noise creeps in from all directions. Inattentive staff: the water dispenser was always empty. Constant lack of water and water pressure in showers (apparently common problem in the village).
Good location, close to the bar where we had tasty meals. Very clean for a hostel, spotless toilets/showers and fresh smelling bedding and towels.

AustraliaRan out of water one of the nights I was there but not the hostels fault, was across the whole island and not unexpected in a more remote town. Hostel handled it well with buckets ready to go for guests to use to shower
Really nice and chill, bar/reception area a great place to hang out. Away from the noisy part of port Barton but only a short walk to everything. Comfy rooms

IrelandThe dorms have interconnected doors so it's actually more like a huge dorm than whats advertised but it was ok. The beds have curtains but they're kind of see through. The bathrooms and showers are near the entrance and the water station is at the bar so it's a little awkward at night if you're trying to get ready for bed with drunk people all around although to be fair the bar does close fairly early at 11
Was close to the bus stop and an easy walk to the beach or loads of places to eat. Really good free yoga class in the morning and the communal area was nice for lounging in/working during the day. You can order food but it's made off site so there's charges for delivery

United KingdomBooked a private room, was given a double bed in a dorm for 2, as they didn’t have any private rooms available! They told us we could have a better room if we stayed in the dorm for the night, but the ‘bungalow’ they gave us was so basic, no water coming out the shower, no toilet seat, bugs/insects everywhere in the room- we wished we stayed in the dorm.
The showers were really good compared to what seemed in the rest of port Barton (they actually had water coming out of them) it was a nice hostel we were just quite unlucky.

United KingdomHalf of the shower doors wouldn’t lock/ close properly. Also only 2 out of the 4 would provide hot water. Music playing too loudly in the morning whilst cleaners are working or morning yoga sessions etc. We had two doors in our private room one to outside and the other to the shower area. This meant you could hear everyone coming back late at night and everyone talking loudly by the showers.
Comfortable bed and spacious room. Outgoing friendly staff who made booking transport and trips very easy for good prices too. Nice bar area within the hostel. They were constantly cleaning the shower areas and toilets which was good as some people were leaving rubbish on the floors such as used toothpicks and floss.

GermanyJust the water pressure in the showers - but that’s not the hostels fault because it’s everywhere in town. Shower works well during daytime but they also have buckets with water which also works very good as a shower :D
We had a private room and it was so good. The bed is very comfy and the AC works well. Everything is very clean. We had a very good time. The team is super nice and helpful. You can walk everywhere from the hostel. It is very social - we met so lovely people there! We also booked a boat tour with the hostel and it was one of our best experiences in the Philippines. Also booked our scooter for a good price. Also the cocktails are great and the happy hour is a good deal! All in all a great stay and what we heard one of the best options in Port Barton.
