Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyNothing to complain! To make the stay even better, it would be great to place some yoga mats in the common areas for some after surf stretching :)
- Very cozy place, baskets help to store things and make you feel at home - great atmosphere and chill people - Bea was very sweet and helpful - vegan restaurant attached to the Hostel is one of the best on the island - often there were tasty bananas and pan de coco in the kitchen area

New ZealandUnfortunately had a power outage that meant we had to move to another guest house for one night, not the greatest but out of their control and they made sure we had somewhere to stay free of charge while it was fixed.
Beautiful place to stay, clean, spacious rooms. The staff were very friendly and the attached cafe is great.

BelgiumI want to make something very clear. this is not just a place where you go to eat or sleep or just come for a coffee. this is a place where you come to make memories. where friends and smiles are shared. Vedya is a home for everyone who is ready to open up. I made friends for life and stories that I will tell for years to come. everyone who works or volunteers in Vedya is ready to help you with open arms. the rooms are cleaned every day and the food is freshly made at your doorstep. I can only give you two tips: stop looking for other accommodation because you have already found it and secondly, open up to these wonderful people and you will be rewarded with a flood of beautiful memories.

GermanyJust a consideration that the sound insulation isn't the best, which wasn't a problem for me, but maybe for a lighter sleeper would be irritating. And there was a non-stop dripping in the bathroom, and at times a faint smell of the drains. But neither of these were so severe that I would not return.
Everything about this place was dreamy! Ysa and the staff were all so friendly, super helpful and super relaxed. They arranged airport transfers, surf lessons and boat trips for me which made my time there very enjoyable and much less stressful than arranging myself. The room was really cute, very comfortable, a lovely bed and nice bathroom. Interiors and design across the whole hostel were really really nice. There was A/C which was much needed, and a cute window view over the palm trees + rice fields. The shared spaces were also very nice, a lovely kitchen with all the facilities you would need, a big dining room area and lots of places to sit. It was all very clean and well-maintained. They even had gymnastic rings out front for anyone into calisthenics! And the vegan restaurant out front was really lovely for brekkie and lunches, and had a really nice vibe or atmosphere. Ysa showed me the new rooms they're opening for longer term rentals, and they're so so nice - I think I would come back to stay here next year!

AustraliaA little out of the way. Definitely need a scooter to get to tourism road or beaches however it’s also a plus as it means it’s quiet for a better rest
The hostel feels more like a home with big spacious common areas, kitchen and dining areas. The beds themselves comfy, bathroom was always clean and plenty of storage and lockers for bags. Attached is a cafe with delicious vegetarian food and great coffee. This is not a party hostel which I love. It’s quiet but fun and full of active travellers. My fave part about the stay was the two beautiful, sleepy puppy’s at Vedya. So well behaved and extra snuggly, they made my morning having breakfast with them!

PhilippinesThe housekeeping in the main area. It wasn’t very clean. A lot of sand. The mugs were broken. The puppies kept on pooping and no one was cleaning it.
Everything. The beds were amazing in the private room. I like the location as well.

United KingdomDorms were small for 6 people, not much room to store bags and the top bunk was tricky to get in and out of. Toilet roll didn't get replaced frequently enough. Also not walkable to the main area, definitely need a scooter

United KingdomAbsolutely beautiful property, staff very friendly. Lovely cosy atmosphere. It was easy to meet fellow travellers because of the comfortable common areas but everyone is also very respectful and it’s not a crazy party place which we appreciated. Good amenities, love having 2 pillows on the beds and the little basket to keep your toiletries in. Feels like a home from home. Brunch place out the front is great too!

United KingdomThe only bad thing is the location, main areas of General Luna aren’t walkable. However, this can be a plus as this means there is no traffic or heavy footfall. I wish also that the karinderya was open slightly longer.
Where do I begin! The receptionist that I met is very friendly, as well as the housekeepers. The hostel feels like a family home, and super stylish. It was very quiet at night. The beds were made and refreshed regularly, shared bathrooms are clean and there is always plenty of soap and other consumables. I loved the little individual baskets for bathroom essentials storage. Generally also loads of privacy and almost doesn’t feel like a hostel.
