Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaNo complaints.
Vilma's place was very clean, comfortable and relaxing. Vilma was very welcoming and friendly and provided us with many tasty local dishes as well as plentiful tea and coffee. The location provided great opportunities to meet with the locals and to experience the Malicong rice terraces during the cool of the early morning or in the morning.

FranceA bitbof miscommunication when I arrived (the jeepney was delayed so Vilma thought I would come later and was not here when I showed up, so I had to wait some time). But overall not her fault, so all is good, just make sure to say what time you will arrive.
Vilma's cuisine is a real plus (and very affordable). Perfect location to explore the rice terrasses.

United KingdomBarking dogs at night, but you can't blame the homestay for that. Just take some ear plugs.
The location was amazing, right by the rice terraces. Home cooked food and plenty of coffee along with help and advice. Vilma really looks after you during your stay and makes you feel welcome. Thanks, Vilma - you're a star.

FranceStaying at Vilma's was the highlight of my trip in the Philippines. I did not find the location difficult to reach as the locals in Bontoc showed me where I could find the jeepney to Maligcong (just in front of Pines Kitchenette and Inn) which took no more than 30 minutes to arrive right in front of the homestay, just expect to wait until it gets full to leave and be aware that there are no jeepneys after 4-5pm. I think it's better not to be in a rush to enjoy the tranquility, authenticity of the area and the friendliness of the locals. The room was comfortable and super clean, as well as the common areas (indoor/outdoor) and bathrooms/toilets. Vilma is truly kind and thoughtful and will make sure you have enough coffee/herbal tea when you are around. I really enjoyed being able to have my meals with her and her family for a small extra. The presence of dogs and cats was also great fun. If you enjoy walking, it's possible to climb Mt Kupapey (beautiful sunrise), Mt Fato and to walk along the beautiful rice fields to reach nearby villages (eg Favarey). I am very grateful I could meet this lovely local family and found this authentic and beautiful countryside area. If you are not demanding, are open minded, adaptable and truly enjoy tranquility, nature and authenticity, then I would highly recommend staying here.

CanadaThere were not a lot of options through this app and others. All places were all in the mountain when you search for places to stay in Bontoc. So it is a 25 min drive from the center. Also since we just booked it an hour before check in. The host wasnt aware of our arrival hence gave us a room that she cleaned up and prepared right away. Then later she found out thay we booked a specific room. It was also my fault for not informing her which room we booked but I forgot so I will not fault her on the mixup when I should had said something and told her about the chosen room. Its all good though, something I should be more aware of and know which room I booked.
The host was very nice and helpful. She cooked us food, as there were no options available up in the hill. We just booked it an hour before getting there as we were coming from Whang-ods village. The facilities were super clean. The double bed was surprisingly comfy.

AustraliaThe beds are typical but we improved that by asking Vilma for a 2nd mattress.
Vilma welcomes with a warm smile and quiet hospitality. We had meals provided by Vilma and they were good. The location is great, it's at the end of the road where the Jeepney drops off, so you can't get lost. It's easy to access the beautiful rice terraces from there and we enjoyed a hike (unguided) to Favarey where the owner of the store told us about local goings on while we drank a cola each. Vilma's homestay is kept exceptionally clean. My phone service (Globe) was better here than in town. There's a little store just up the road for a beer or ice-cream.

United KingdomNothing. No internet, not even 4G anywhere in Maligcong, if you have a SMART SIM (although GLOBO SIM does pick up a signal hence it's used by the locals), however this was not a problem for a few days stay.
It felt like a genuine homestay allowing you to gain a better understanding of how people live in this part of Luzon. Vilma was very friendly and helpful, arranging local guides to facilitate visiting the surrounding countryside and rice terraces. Everything is very clean and good meals are provided upon request for very reasonable rates. It's located immediately alongside the start/end of the steep jeepney ride up from Bontoc.I really enjoyed my stay and would thoroughly recommend Vilma's Homestay.

FranceWe loved our stay here! Thanks to Vilma we really felt at home, she is really caring, we didn't miss anything. She also cooks really great food and can offer vegetarian option. The jeepney from Bontoc (4 per day, we took one at 11h30) stops just in front of the house. From there you can hike to another village (Mainit) or walk across beautiful Maligcong rice terraces Thank you again Vilma, take care!

NetherlandsThis homestay is literally 20 meters from the rice terraces. If you walk 5 minutes you are in the middle of it. You can make fantastic hikes, also up the mountain with beautiful views. Vilma is the best and most welcoming host we had in the philippines, she is really taking care of you! The room is small but the house is spotless, good warm shower (there are enough showers/toilets), coffee/tea during the day and the meals are really great for a very friendly price. There is a terrace to sit and just enjoy the quiet environment. Be aware there is only a very small shop around, so bring whatever you need from Bontoc. The homestay can be reached easily with a jeepney, just a 30 minutes ride, which depart 4 times a day from the central market (side street) in Bontoc. You will be dropped in front of the house!

United Kingdomnote that there’s no wifi and reception for Philippines sim is also limited - it was nice to be disconnected for a while! the only way to reach the property is by a jeepney from Bontoc - they are a really infrequent only 2 in the morning and a couple in the afternoon - if you arrive in Bontoc after about 5pm you will have to overnight there and wait for the morning jeepney to Vilmas.
vilma was so welcoming - it’s a big comfortable space with a indoor bathroom and shower with a garden view over the valley. vilma provided us with non stop free tea and coffee and cooked us the loveliest meal and breakfasts. In the morning Vilma was up early to direct us to a very pleasant walk around the rice fields Vilma is so happy to help with all your questions. I hope lots more tourists start to visit this area again to help their local economy and experience the beautiful views .
