Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaTravelling with heavy bags but no elevator. We were on 3rd floor. I'm tall and didn't like the angled ceiling. Shower heater was tepid at best. Only one bedside lamp. No coffee maker. Staff didn't check shower heat nor show us how to set a/c. We had to ask for TV to be set up but that was wasted effort because no movie channels; only local very commercial crap broadcasting. Dined in first night, ordered 4 entrés: chop suey vegetables very over-cooked, 50% was cabbage and most expected veg ingredients were absent, only a few small broken shrimp pieces; sisig flavoured with (hickory smoke from a bottle?); pansit greasy with many cubes of fat; not much meat; rice was OK but small portions.
Location suited our purposes. Safe area. Extra mattress provided for our son but cost P1k/night. Room large enough. Staff helped carry heaviest bag to 3rd floor. Kettle and hair dryer worked. Aircon worked well once we figured out how to set it. Didn't disturb our sleep.

ThailandWi-Fi is not working well, electric outlets almost dangling from the wall despite of the deluxe room #204.
I have visited some historical places by my feet. Also this hotel is in a travelers destination as one of a historical place. Cheaper price than some major hotels.

PhilippinesThe bed is not comfortable. The hot/cold shower did not work. There was singing almost the whole day at their dining area which was too loud.
I like the location and their rate is reasonable. The room is clean and spacious. Very nice and friendly staff.

United KingdomThis is a very old hotel, everything is old and smelly. Yet they want 3k deposit, or your passport. All payments in cash. Bed was pretty bad, movements felt like earthquakes. The bedsheets were stained in multiple places. The room was full of mosquitoes. On top of all this they wanted to charge us for smoking in the room. After checkout, the cleaning lady brought the bin from our room to show some cig butts, which we threw away so we don't throw garbage on the streets. It took all their staff going to the room to see it doesn't actually smell, looking at pictures of our bin, and us explaining multiple times that we smoked outside but threw the butts in the bin...but they eventually accepted that we didn't smoke inside.
It was ok for a night. We wanted to visit the central area easily. The room was spacious, with a mini fridge and kettle.

PhilippinesDont get me wrong with my comments, These are not negative but just Management needs to look into details. All the rooms we've used are clean at least the part that your eyes can see. * water issue, heater sometimes working sometimes not, the amount of water flowing is to weak and less * cleanliness on hidden parts of the room, although we dont use the cabinets, furniture's needs a deep cleaning since its too old. Mugs were greasy, dont ever try to use it without washing or just buy a paper cup if you are a coffee person. * non working sockets, they had to give us extension cords * phone were not working property and its disgusting, the smell and its greasy * they always run out of towels * no option for bed size * all double locks are broken * balcony shutters are broken and you will not be able to lock it * broken or no hair dryer (again socket in toilets are not working)

Oman(1) No option for bigger Bed (2) Limitation in water (3) Appliance are too old, not a big deal since our stay is only literary only for sleep (4) Not much option in restaurant, not very ideal for someone like us who doesn't want to go out or preferred a room service. (5) Cleanliness is so so, the mugs for coffee where too greasy :( its a big no for someone who cant start a day without coffee. Starbucks delivery is options though (6) No lift, difficult for someone who have a leg and back problem, glad that we are just on 2nd floor
(1) Staff were friendly and accommodating. (2) Location is perfect for what we need, close to my Son's School (3) Nothing fancy but decent place to stay, couldn't expect much more considering the rate

United KingdomLots of basics wrong - no soap, and room not really THAT clean. There were dead cockroaches in one of the wardrobes but no hangers anyway. I asked for some hangers e but they never showed up. Some big issues. My room didn’t actually have glass windows - just bars, blinds and curtains. Means air con will never do much of anything in steaming capital. No cold water supply to my room (211) so had to get water to drink from kitchen. In the end I was glad to leave and felt sad about hotel. Had a sense the carpets everywhere needed a proper clean. Lots of staff but do they know what they are doing? Actual location and Spanish colonial vibe is very appealing - which only made three night stay even more disappointing.
Intramuros is a place of itself and great sense of history, especially colonial Spain. Very different vibe to rest of Manila
