Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. PolandSpa facilities weren't available. To our surprise they need to be booked in advance (1 hour slot) to use sauna or jacuzzi. This information wasn't provided in advance so when we arrived all slots were already taken except on last night when the place was almost empty but it got cancelled for no obvious reasons and we were told when we actually went to use it... There was no double bed. Upon request we got the mattress topper but it was stained with blood so we ended up not using it Communication needs to be improved. Besides the above spa booking issues there was no info about outdoor pool not being available. Then, one night restaurant got closed for a private function but no info provided prior to event e.g. during breakfast. Luckily there was another restaurant next door.

Ukrainebreakfast, part closed restaurant. The host indicated an ability of late check-in in the hotel service description. It was the main selected factor why we choose this hotel. However, when we arrived at 1 a.m. the hotel was closed and nobody around and inside. All attempts to reach the host had no results. Phone numbers indicated in the booking confirmation had no answers. So we found another phone No. via Google. The host answered on the call and told me that he can't help me out because the hotel is closed till morning and the host just forgot to uncheck this option in the Booking system. After a couple negotiations minutes and callbacks the host 'took pity' on us. Further the host arrived in the hotel in two minutes to open the door and let us to check-in. Next morning surprised us a little bit more. Our accommodation included breakfasts. But at 9 am we could see only burnt bread slices and two eggs. It was all. For my complaint the host answered me that the restaurant stuff will not cook breakfast no more today. The second morning breakfast was the worst in our life. All meals was already ate before we wake up. Had to settle only for instant coffee. The host answer was the same.
