Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. United KingdomApartment: Disappointing. While the location was fantastic, the apartment itself felt tired and in need of maintenance. There were missing window blinds, the beds were uncomfortable, and unfortunately, upon arrival, we encountered a blocked toilet. Communication: PO apartments communication was prompt, but unfortunately, it wasn't helpful in resolving the blocked toilet. We had to spend time fixing the issue ourselves, which put a damper on the beginning of our stay.
Location: Excellent! This apartment's biggest advantage is its location in Warsaw. It's close to everything and has great access to public transportation. Additional Note: Be aware that there's a £200 deposit required outside of Booking.com's platform, so factor that into your budgeting. Overall: This apartment has the potential to be great due to its location, but the tired condition and lack of help with the blocked toilet brought down the experience.

United KingdomNot recommended at all! Kitchen didn't include toaster. Every cutlery was dirty and needed to wash it before use. In the oven there was still leftover food and smells really bad! Shower broken! Duvets dirty and with holes :( Overall rooms looks dirty, no decorations in any rooms (like pictures shows). And communication with host- not really friendly! View - don't even want to talk about view :( The only one good thing was location! Just perfect and close to everywhere but would never chose it to stay in such a dirty place!

AustraliaLocation in booking.com is not correct. I booked this apartment specifically because I thought it would be opposite to where I needed to be for work (based on the location in booking.com) but it was actually 650m away. The apartment looked nothing like it did in the pictures. The floors and surfaces were not clean. I had to spend 30 mins cleaning the floor, wiping down surfaces and dusting when I arrived, after a 24 hr flight from Australia. I was very disappointed with this accommodation.
