Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

LithuaniaLong time rooms did not see any renewals.
First time had experience to sleep in XII century building. Maybe its not the best rooms, but historical feeling makes the day.

Czech RepublicThe restaurant was closed. So we just walked short walk down to the main town square.
Location, the castle itself, value for money. It was simple but clean. The breakfast was nice. You do not have a chance to sleep at 13th century castle for such a good money. Nice atmosphere, especialy when you arrive in the evening. You can park just in front of the entrance to the reception at the main court of a castle.

PolandThere is a huge potential in this place that is unfortunately wasted. Everything looks like built in .80s and not renovated since then.
Beautiful medieval castle, well preserved. Fantastic atmosphere, friendly staff

Definitely a special experience of staying in a real castle in a big room with high ceiling. The central location makes a good base for exploring the town and surroundings.

PolandBathroom was a little bit poor. The toilet seat kept closing itself, so we had to ask for a string in order to avoid from keep falling and there's no shelves on which you can leave your toiletry. Unfortunately there were ants in the room, but they are working on it. :)
Amazing place, wonderful location. The castle is very nice and going up to the tower is a great plus. The staff is really friendly and it's a very good place if you have a pet that travels with you. Good breakfast, and a very nice restaurant just on the courtyard.

Czech RepublicWe asked for a secure parking spot as we were travelling in a classic car. The hotel confirmed this, saying there were cameras everywhere. The parking lot underneath the castle premises was dark, no camera I could see (it was dark, so can't really say). The castle gate was open, but a sign clearly said not to drive up into the castle courtyard. We parked at the designated hotel parking lot, and carried our luggage up the hill to the hotel. The reservation desk staff seemed unaware of our reservation (reserved an hour or two ago), but after some fumbling with reservation forms we got our room. The room was clean, but the bathroom was well beyond its best years. The door knob was hanging on for dear life, the water taps were somewhat loosely attached to walls, the electric plug next to the washbasin was halfway sticking out of the wall, the shower door was hanging by a single bracket. One of the bedside lamps had no electric socket in reach. We were dead tired and not bound on trying to get another room, so we went along and spent the night, ate the breakfast and left.
We spent one night as an ad hoc stay during our journey from CZ to eastern Poland. We reserved en route, arrived late at night (23:00). The wifi and the breakfast were good, and we got free entry to the lookout tower. If you're there, it's worth going up there even if you're not staying. Great views all around Otmuchow.

BelgiumThe inside of the castle is rearranged into a hotel. But the original atmosphere is totally gone. Not worth the detour.
It's a beautiful castle, at least from the outside. Except of this, the place offers nothing special.

United StatesIf you want to stay at a unique place steeped in history, Zamek Otmuchow is the perfect choice. Located on top of a hill right next to the charming Silesian town of Otmuchow, this hotel certainly delivered for us. Although the rooms don't come with any fancy bells and whistles, they were spotlessly clean, with comfortable beds and good showers, and for an incredibly reasonable price. We also loved the restaurant. The chicken gyros salad was so delicious. Wonderful stay!
