Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesSome small items in the room could've been fixed, like the black out curtain. Also, the elevator was slow for my taste - that could use some upgrade.
A wonderful and beautiful piece of history turned into a hotel, right in the heart of Old San Juan. Every historical landmark that Old SJ has to offer is within walking distance. Also, amazing restaurants within walking distance.

United StatesThe hotel has the a/c set up to continuously run and it was too cold in the room for me. Unfortunately, the engineer wasn't able to turn it off. Additionally, the water pressure in the shower wasn't consistent and when it did run it was cold for the last 2 days of my stay.
Excellent hotel staff and loved the ambiance of the hotel with the afternoon wine and cheese. The location was perfect for touring Old San Juan. The hotel restaurant was convenient and set in a serene courtyard.

United StatesThe daily cleaning service did not really clean. There were children’s toys in our room from the previous guests and the ice bucket had water in it clearly indicating no one bothered to check and clean. our bathroom was barely cleaned every day. only towels were replaced. Another issue that was not nice was that we arrived at 1:30pm so they told us to wait until our room is ready since check in time is 3pm. we waited and came back again they askedcus to wait longer. we only got our room at 5:30pm!!! when I asked that check in is at 3, why isnt the room ready, the reception told us “No, check is STARTS at 3.” This is the most bizarre thing I have heard in any hotel….
excellent location, comfortable, beautiful

United KingdomWe had absolutely no WIFI access in our room. This is something we looked for when we made the booking and it was confirmed provided. We had no cellular access at all so we were relying on this facility and unfortunately it was not provided. We did tell reception on the first day and they advised an engineer would look at it but nothing happened. We also advised on check out and the receptionist said they could have given us a router which was a bit of a bummer. Only other downside was the room temperature. AC controls were not easy to operate and the room temperature would not regulate. It was absolutely freezing even with the AC off most of the time and unfortunately made sleeping and being in the room uncomfortable unless we were wrapped up.
The staff were exceptional and super friendly. The vibe of the hotel itself was fantastic. Superb location and beautiful archictetcure and greenery throughout the hotel.

Italyit’s odd but my room was never cleaned. I stayed two nights and on the second day left in the morning and returned late in the afternoon and it was just as I left it.
Exceptional location in old San Juan. The room I’m the 2nd floor had a little hidden terrace great for morning coffee or a wine in the afternoon before hitting the city again at night. The pool is pretty small, but works to dip in and refresh yourself after a day of walking around.

United Statesthe hotel-powered restaurant has a rather small menu and is outside. Outside is normally fine. I think my Oatmeal bowl was $9. Ouch. There is a second, non-hotel, restaurant in the building which looks lovely and we heard is fantastic. I suggest you try both places when you stay at this nice historic hotel. You don't really want a car here, so rent your car after/before your San Juan days. I think there are several car parks walking distance you can leave your car in if you do bring it...
Our guidebook lists this as their preferred place to stay in Old San Juan. I'd say they were not wrong. Sound insulation from the lovely central interior courtyard was great - an extra door to shut! The hotel is in a historic old convent that (shame!) was going to be ripped down to make a car park. Thank goodness this lovely place is here. It's expensive, but I think you'll enjoy it. No beach access on site, but you can take Uber to their sister location (Courtyard Isla Verde) for beach/umbrella/chair access, which makes a good half-day trip.

United States(1)internet is ridiculously poor, not sure why they even say they have internet, because they don’t actually have internet. couldn’t even use their tv, or my iPad, because their internet signal was so poor, stronger from my cell phone. for this cost, there is no reason they shouldn’t have solid and usable internet, (2)said breakfast was included but it wasn’t, very disappointing, still looking at my booking.COM confirmation and that says breakfast is included, hotel said it wasn’t, we had to buy it. (3) pool is only 5’x10’, literally that’s it and 5’ deep.
absolutely fantastic location.

United StatesA heavier blanket on the bed instead of just sheets. I need weight in a blanket to sleep best. I didn't try asking for blankets because my boyfriend was fine with just the sheets. But maybe if I did ask, they would have has some! Otherwise the bed was very comfortable.
The hotel architecture was beautiful. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. The pool with the view was lovely. The coffee in the morning by our room was a treat. So was the wine and cheese provided.

United StatesNo blankets, had to turn off AC completely too stop frosty air, as it continued to blow cold air even after we pressed "heat" and increased desired temp. View was of an uncared for alley. Shower was not adjustable. No shuttle to their sister beach property. Wifi never worked.
Staff and other guests friendly and fun. Roof top plunge pool. Easy to get a good breakfast or cocktail in house. Can walk everywhere. From airport $26 taxi ride.
