Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyIt was quite noisy in my room at night because of the traffic. I didn't like the mosquitos in the common area outside, you have to use repellent day and night if you want to sit there. The hostel is mostly run by volunteers who were very lovely but not always as helpful as you would expect in a hostel. The kitchen area could be modernized.
I liked my single room, the bed was very comfy. The location is good, you can explore Santurce and Miramar on food. To the old town you can take a bus which runs frequently. The cleanliness of my room and the shared bathroom was excellent.

CanadaNone of the plugs in the private room worked. The private room's door locked solidly - but was a bit finnicky - if you didnt give it a good shove, it popped open on its own.
It was all the things that a budget hostel needed to be - clean and affordable with friendly staff. It was close enough to key locations for the taxi fares to be affordable. The busses were unreliable so I took taxis more often than I would have liked to go and from old san Juan, but the train to the University was very reliable, which was useful for that part of my trip.

SwedenThere are lots of mosquitoes in the common sitting area outside the building. Recommend 1802 staff to always spreay the outside sitting areas to kill the mosquitoes so as to enable guests to enjoy the sitting area to socialise.
Very clean hostel, in the city and close to the airport. Walking distance to most clubs if you like walking.

United StatesOne bathroom was smelly as the hostel was crowded. Fortunately, there were more bathrooms on the 1st floor.
Kitchen is a little old, but it has all utensils, plates and 2 refrigerators to prepare a breakfast and dinner. I didn't find a pen to label my food. Lockers are in good working condition. 25 minutes walking to Mercado Santurce and 15 minutes walking to Pueblo supermarket. Easy way to take public transportation but it only works from 5am to 9pm.

Bosnia and HerzegovinaLacks anti-mosquito spraying.
As 1st-time PR visitor, had a tough time deciding whether to stay in Old Town or closer to beaches and this proved perfect – close to buses leading to city attractions, trains/buses to other parts of PR (super important if you want to see more than San Juan with public transport), and within walking distance from sea + popular evening hangouts. It has comfortable, spacious dorms with nearby lockers and showers (although I would recommend that the hostel regulates AC temperature instead of letting it be Europe Vs. US battle:) Not big but still with plenty of different common areas (for socialising, chilling or work) and usable kitchen (fridges/shelves need more systemic sorting, introducing boxes and throwing away unmarked food twice a week would make a massive difference). Carlos, the manager, took us places we woudn’t find on our own and made sure that every person has transport back/is taken care off, even when they split from the group. Finally, family dinners/drinks give enough opportunity for everyone to socialise but after 11 p.m., the hostel is quiet. I ended up extending for 10 days:)

United StatesRude shirtless guy Alex, wrong decision having him at the front desk. It’s a bunch of travelers staying there for free so the focus isn’t hospitality towards guests. After a month or so it will be new staff after the others leave. Kind of a genius business model! Bring mosquito repellent they’re all in the showers.
I searched nomads beach club and looked at the all women’s hostel for my birthday trip to San Juan. 1802 went through a remodel and continues to be the cheapest imo. I went around San Juan as a solo traveler, left my items unlocked at the hostel and nothing was touched!

United StatesMosquito infestation, they’re even in the showers, bring repellent. Rooms are freezing at 62 degrees! Also the staff could benefit hospitality training especially the shirtless guy who is incredibly rude to guests. Their designated workspace is dimly lit near the front desk, not really suitable for digital nomads but there are coffee shops in walking distance.
Great price, didn’t meet Carlos but he seems to manage the property well. There was an issue of a guest smoking in the dorm and it was handled swiftly.

SlovakiaFull of mosquitos everywhere including the showers and common areas. I suggest to spray the place regularly.
Close to airport (10 mins).I arrived at night and they sent me instructions to enter and it was smooth and easy. The place has a kitchen and a solid area to hang out. Would be nice to have someone at the reception who can guide you around the town and give you some rios about the island.

United StatesThis hostel would have been 10/10 for me if there was some sort of ability to use the location's washing machine and dryer. Of course the hostel needs priority over the facilities but if there was a pay-for option or open hour sign-up option, this place would be flawless
I thought the beds were comfortable, the staff helpful, the value was fantastic for what I paid. There was a very communal vibe amongst the staff and travelers as well!

United Statesi didnt like the comfort of my bed in a private room. there was no TV in the room either. most hostels have tvs in their private rooms. also, the weird fact was that there were no glass windows in my room and therefore, I was hearing all the noise throughout the night!
i really appreciated the friendliness and hospitality of the "front desk" staff. the hostel was very well-maintained and clean. the location was also close to many places via uber.

RussiaThe kitchen and the toilet are next to each other, after all, where people eat, there should not be a toilet nearby. A dog lives in the hotel, which sometimes sniffs food. The owner of the hotel did not issue a check/receipt for payment, although I asked him to do so.
Low price for accommodation. Good WI-FI. There is a WALMART store not far away.
