Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesIt seemed super plain. Not a lot of attention to detail (ie the bathrooms seemed quickly put together), and the general feel was that the owners kind of just testing out the idea of owning a hostel. Idk Getting to my room was a little confusing. One of the other patrons yelled at me at 3:30 am for snoring. That was weird.
I liked how close they were to the beach. Across the street from Walgreens.

United StatesThe facilities looked like they hadn't been cleaned in days. There was body hair all over the sink and shower. Pizza left on the counter that looked like it had been there for hours. The staff is primarily volunteers who are not locals. They were very awkward. I put money on the counter to pay for the beers I ordered, and one bartender turned to the other and asked, "Why is she giving us money?" Perhaps to pay for goods and services? The owner told me to shut a gate in an accusatory way, when I was not the one who opened it in the first place. There was an event in the courtyard that night. It was mostly young people visiting from out of town, which makes sense for a hostel. However, everyone just sat there, no dancing or anything. I spoke to a local about it later, and he said that was typical for the place. This is PR, where's the dancing? I went upstairs, put in my earplugs, and called it a night because I had to work in the morning. It was a Wednesday night. The event went on until 3 AM, with blaring music and yelling outside the dorm window. On a weekend night, sure; but on a Wednesday? A guy staying in the dorm started talking on his phone in his bed. No sign of the volunteer to enforce some rules about noise. I got an hour of sleep, and left the hostel around 6 AM to go to the beach to snooze. I booked other accommodations. There was no one at the front desk when I left. I emailed the hostel and listed my concerns after they prompted me. They had no excuse for the cleanliness issues, said they have an event like that every Wednesday and said I could have asked to move rooms. This "solution" would have solved none of the issues, so I'm not sure why it was proposed. There was no offer of a refund or other incentive, which I didn't expect anyway. It worked out in the end because I had a fantastic trip after I switched accommodations.
The location is very good. A few minutes' walk to a very nice beach in Ocean Park. It's also right across from a 24-hour Walgreens and directly off Calle Loiza, which has some great restaurants and bars. Also, the cat on the property was cute.

United StatesMany things we didn’t like. 1. The AC was very old and even having it on The coolest option the room was always warm during the night and hot during the day. 2. There was a heater for the shower but it was impossible to shower with hot water because what the AC lacked in power the water heater had it and the water was volcano hot, burning your skin so we had to shower with cold water. 3. Most of the neighbors we had in the rooms next door will arrived drunk at 2 or 3am making huge noise and there is no one from the administration that you can go to. 4. There is no parking at the property and if you rent a car like we did, finding a parking close by is impossible at night. you have to leave the car wherever is one and walk for minutes and it can be dangerous arriving late at night as most of the streets are very dark at night. 5. Last but not least, after checking out, we received and email from the property letting us know that they were going to charge us $25.00 because they found one of the towels dirty. it wasn’t because the towel was broken or stolen, we were being charge/penalize because due to a medical condition we had am incident and we had to use one of the towels to clean. first of all a towel is there to be use, regardless if you use it or not, if it gets dirty or not, it is a responsibility of the property to clean it to make sure the next guests get a clean room and that’s what we paid for. I definitely filed a claim against this property with Booking.com and I would not recommend anyone to stay at this place no matter how cheap they could be. you will regret it.
The only good thing we liked about the property was that it was closed to Kasalta which is one of the most famous bakery in San Juan.

simple but roomy and comfortable. Very friendly and attentive host. we flew in very late and she was very accommodating. Also great location if you want to be right by the beach, with a few other hotels and hostels near by with restaurants and even a pool you can use if you decide to eat or get drinks there.

United StatesI have standards but I made a mistake booking this place. Sometimes reviews are not accurate sometimes you have to see for yourself. The area location is okay I seen other tourist but this building seems very old and needs an upgrade and need to be refurnished. This place needs construction work on the inside and outside. Needs a modern update especially in the kitchen, I felt very uncomfortable here. The outside patio area in the BACK was nice at night and a vibe with music. The patio area in the front needs new tents at least come on people make this place a little more comfortable and appealing. The two twin size beds sucked!!!!!! those were foldable cots not beds. Blankets were clean and soft. I used my phone and took a nap. No TV in room, felt like I was in a holding cell. No hot water in the shower and bugs flying around in the bathroom. I even left the same day I checked in. The outside patio in the back, music, drinks, hookah is the best part about this place.
The only thig to like about this facility/building/place to stay is the staff. They seemed nice and friendly and helpful if needed.
