Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IrelandReception area a bit dour….. but this a minor issue for overall facility.
Excellent location in Alfama. Reception area a bit dour but excellent spacious bed room. I loved the sound of the tram rattling by early morning…. Crisp linen. Decent bath towels( changed daily). Informative & helpful staff on a 24 hour reception. Safety box in room. Availability to have your luggage stored here post check out , pre Lisbon departure ,which is great. Felt a safe environment for solo, female traveller. 👍

United KingdomI did pick the accommodation due to its proximity to the tramline, I just didn't count on the room vibrating from very early morning to late at night. I got a little more than I had bargained for.
Location was great. Great coffee place next door. Very attentive staff, super breakfast.

IrelandThe apartment lacked some facilities - like a hairdryer, sweeping brush etc. There was a coffee machine but no coffee pods provided, so I'm not sure why it was there. Floor was quite dirty. Small things though, for the great price.
Very big apartment in a great area of Alfama. Bed was comfortable. Staff were more than helpful. There is a tram stop right outside the apartment and a market 1 minute walk. It is also 2 doors down from an excellent breakfast spot!

New ZealandThere were no elevator so it was hard to move your heavy bags 2 or 3 floors, also they have coffee maker but you need to pay for the capsules, not ideal!
A place in the nice Alfama, well located. We stay at the apartment and was very good with a nice view, I wouldn’t recommend the other rooms as they are on the other side and very noisy!

United StatesThe noise of the tram... wasn't the best but at least the windows being soundproof helped.. Being in the old town area was what we wanted so it was good!
Isabella at the front desk was great! Her help with how to get somewhere and with trying to get the breakfast a bit early was helpful. The breakfast was wonderful! 😊

United KingdomAlfama Lisbon Lounge Suites is in a great location for exploring Lisbon and, in particular, the Alfama area. It is set down a cute narrow street which the tram runs through. There is a 24 hour front desk and staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. The room, whilst basic, was huge and nicely equipped with tea making facilities. A word of warning to light sleepers that the noise from the tram was very loud as it passes right outside the window and so you may want to ensure you get a room further back in the building away from the street. The accommodation is located right next to a great cafe that does good coffee and amazing cinnamon buns - the perfect way to start a day of sightseeing.

United StatesThe tram was noisy. The lobby is dark, and we did not feel compelled to take breakfast there so we cannot comment on it.
The room was clean and comfortable. The bed was great. The ladies at the front desk were great. The hotel is close to a great little Dutch cafe, which had a great breakfast and coffee. Down the street was a great Dim Son restaurant. Close to St. George castle too!

AustraliaThe location of the Alfama - Lisbon Lounge Suites is excellent - right on the number 28 tram line, close walk to several eateries (Copenhagen Coffee Lab was fab, as were the Carvoeiro restaurant and the little pizza place) and a small convenience store. Easy walk to the flea market and pantheon. The bed was very comfortable, the wifi was reliable, and it was lovely to have a little garden for some sunshine, quiet and extra space. Great, too, to have some kitchen facilities. The apartment was spacious and clean, and the cleaning service was excellent.
