Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.

ThailandThe only complaint I have with this property was the challenge in checking in because I had to pay the 8 Euro tax separately and my credit card wanted to send me a security code to authorize the payment which I didn't have access to due to changing my SIM card on arrival. This is my problem as I needed to set up for email verification. I had booked through booking.com and they hadn't charged the tax at the same time as the room charge. The host said I could pay on arrival however I didn't realize that the location of the host was not at the property. We had arrived late by taxi and did not want to drag bags to another location to pay the tax. They wouldn't give me the code to the lock box to get the keys until tax was paid however they were trying to figure it out by making a few phone calls to their boss. Eventually my traveller partner tried her card and we were successful and got in. The person we were dealing with was not the owner and was very kind, helpful, patient and trying to do his best.
Loved the location, the character of the building, funky rustic decor and the fact that it felt much more local than touristy. The outdoor roof top patio was wonderful!

GermanyThe bathroom is extremely small. The sink is so tiny, that when you washes you hands, the water splashes everywhere. The smell!! When we arrived we noticed that there was a foul smell coming from the shower. We tried cleaning it, using a deodorant...nothing worked. In the end we had to cover the shower drainage with a plastic bag. That worked and the smell went away.
The apartment is in a central position (Alfama), perfect if you want to visit Lisboa on foot. We didn't have access to the balcony, but I didn't mind. The kitchen and the bed were nice, quite comfortable and nicely decorated. Everything worked and there were enough pots and pans if you want to cook your own food. The owner was helpful and polite.

United KingdomExtremely poor wood on the terrace that should have a warning on it. Not suitable for children as loose nails and broken wood. I tore my foot open and it resulted in the holiday being slightly ruined as couldn’t walk for a few days.

The host was very friendly. The location is superb, it's in the center of the old town and you can go everywhere by foot. The famous and popular viewpoint is just a few minutes away.

SerbiaVery small bathroom. Wrong info about check in, problem with check in. In instructions during online payment it was said that the city tax will be charged on site. We came on site in the evening, still not having information about code for key safe box. Sent mail 3 times, before departure, on arrival to the airport, from site, NO RESPONCE. Called by the prone and only then got information we have to pay citytax online to get the code. Very unpleasent situation in the dark court in front of the building. They should have charged it during the payment before departure, or answer e mails.
Clean, spatial place, with great terrace, sea view. Everything great except comunication.

We confirmed our check in at 10am due to our early flight however when we arrived circa 10.30, we found that the cleaner had not yet been and we could not get in contact with the apartment manager. 2. We spent well over an hour trying to get the key to the apartment just to drop our bags off but everytime we called in to the number they provided to me, we were told we should call someone else and given and alternative until we made a full circle. 3. We finally got into the apartment circa 12pm to find the property what appeared to be half cleaned. As we later found a cockroach. 4. we tried to rectify this the evening of which we got there however we did not get a reply or response from them until almost three days later in which we were leaving within 12 hours. 5. This response offered to re clean the flat within the next few hours however as we were out for the day we told them we would not like them to go into the apartment as we had our belongings and valuables in there and left out, (the safe didn’t work) however I got a response a few hours after telling them this saying they had already been. 6. overall this stay was far more stressful and was not what it described to be on booking.com.

IcelandWe arrived in Lisbon at 10PM, having informed the property that we would come that late. Upon arrival, we noticed that the information on how to collect the keys was incomplete - in one place, it was stated that we should collect them through a secure box at the property, in another place that we should pick them up somewhere else. The phone number provided through Booking.com did not work. Our taxi driver then informed us that the stated pick up address was an area, not a specific place. So here we were, with 5 heavy bags and a small kid, in nighttime Lisbon. Luckily, the driver was helpful and ultimately (after 2-3 tries) found the "actual" telephone number and we managed to pick up the keys. Apart from the girl at the hostel reception, we never got any apology for this. To make sure that we won't have a similar check out experience, I contacted the place through Booking.com messages 4 days before leaving asking about where to leave the keys. Up until today (one week later), I haven't received a reply. This is a great place, but the contact was absolutely ruining this experience.

Ukraine*Landlord Very very diligent and friendly host. He was in touch all the time and help with everything I needed. *Location Very close to everything you might need. Supermarket is nearby (big one ~ 12 minutes on foots, small shops - 2 and more minutes). Caffes/restaturants - many nearby. Home is on the heel, so you will find many places with a perfect view. *Flat Very clean. Pillows, tovels etc are white! + you have shampoo etc. You will find 2 separated rooms (for example for parents and 2 children), small living room, kitchen and bathroom. Ah, and a huge advantage of this plase is that you have your private terrase =) And balcons. *Furtiture Many towels, big fridge, pans, kettle etc. I guess all you need. Bzw, wifi works well. The home is in the center and very close to many places to go sightseen. On the other hand the home is quiet.
