Such a beautiful, calm and sensorially pleasing atmosphere. Was really relaxing and comfortable making it easy to work. The staff were fantastic and the "House" is also within walking distance of all the local cafes, tourist restaurants (& bars) that the town has to offer. The breakfast offered of natural and holistic foods was a delightful change from the usual fare at most hotels and the fact that the plants surrounding the rooms and hotel are all used for tea/infusions and culinary preparations just make the whole experience more enjoyable.

There was NOTHING I didn't like.

Altanure -Almatere Food Forest Boutique is a wonderful place to stay in Tavira! It is within walking distance to the center, restaurants and the ferry to Tavira Island. The rooms are very calming , quiet and serene-exactly what I wanted after a day of exploring. Camilla, Ana and the entire staff were so kind and accommodating offering to help me plan my days and what to see and do in this lovely city. Camilla in particular couldn't have been more helpful...thank you Camilla.🙏 The breakfast offered is outstanding, in fact it was the BEST I had in my 6 weeks traveling through Portugal. Bravo Almatere!! A lot of the offerings were sourced and grown on the property and breads were freshly made by Ana and delicious! The attention to detail is second to none...each staff member knew exactly how I preferred my coffee every morning. Service like this is not the norm but so appreciated! I would highly recommend this property while visiting Tavira and its surrounding area. I look forward to returning someday and visiting their parent property Casa Terra, perhaps for a retreat...🤩❣️

there was nothing we didn't like

the breakfast was excellent and varied each day we stayed. There was good choice and we particularly enjoyed the healthy ingredients. The accommodation was based within very easy reach of the centre of Tavira.

Personally, I would have liked to see conditioner in the washroom, as opposed to the 2-in-1 they provide, as they recommend not to bring your own products due to the chemicals in most commercial brands. I think if they request this, they should provide alternatives. Especially since we went to the beach.

What an oasis! One of the best stays I've had in Portugal to date, and I've been living here for 4 years! Such a peaceful space, with a spa-like quality. The forest really provides a sense of isolation, even though it's located in a more residential area, once you step in side, you are transported to a little getaway paradise. The breakfast was delicious, the bedding was comfortable, like a cloud, and the common spaces were clean and relaxing.

We loved everything! We had a huge private terrace with a real garden! Perfect location - very peaceful area, but still very close to the center (5 min on foot). Fantastic breakfast with home made bread (even gluten-free)! And last but not least - extremely friendly hosts and the whole staff. Thank you very much!

The only issue was a torn screen on our balcony door which wasn't a big deal b/c there were no bugs - but should be fixed.

Breakfast included a wide variety of fresh, healthy options including many local fruits, teas, nuts, grains, breads, eggs cooked to order and much more! And, coffee and tea of course!

The interior design whilst being largely composed of recycled and repurposed items lacks cohesion and feels a bit DIY at times. Part of the problem is the attempt to follow a rustic theme in a modern construction. The gardens actually work much better.

The botanic concept works really well. Making plants from the lush private gardens available for guests to make their own herbal tea is an original and thoughtful touch. The breakfast buffet was great. Healthy and tasty real food prepared and presented with care. Only room for improvement there would be the coffee situation which is a bit average by comparison.

The hotel was quiet and calm. The rooms were well appointed and it was a very tranquil setting. Staff is delightful and very helpful. The breakfasts were fantastic. Lots of fresh fruits, nuts, breads and condiments. The sheep-milk yogurt was delicious. Bed was very comfortable with fresh crisp sheets and a super clean bath room. Loved the big fluffy towels.

This is a real gem in the Algarve! We definitely enjoyed it and would come back in the future! From concept to execution, everything is just top notch! Nicely decorated, little touches everywhere (water with various herbs provided, tea and fresh fruits, not to mention the outstanding breakfast), great staff service. Sure, this is not your average 4* hotel because it's actually much better than a hotel.
