What a lovely surprise! Janelas Verdes is a slightly old-fashioned but very charming small boutique hotel. The service was great, and the hotel felt like a luxury home. The courtyard is picturesque, and we loved the honesty bar system and availability of coffee in various places. The rooftop veranda and library are gorgeous areas too. Wonderful breakfast selection too. Secure underground parking is limited, but available and comes at a charge.

Nothing really, the hotel is great value for money and little 'old world'. Very comfortable and peaceful. For holidaymakers it is not the most convenient hotel for the center of town, but it is easily and quickly reached by public transport or a pleasant riverside walk.

This is an unusualy hotel, with cosy places to sit in comfortable chairs, including a large lounge with great views. It is quiet, despite there many guests when I was there. The staff are very friendly and always helpful. This is the second time I have stayed there and it will be certainly my choice of hotel for my next trip.

Finally a hotel that lets you sleep late and still enjoy an exquisite breakfast. Besides everybody was so kind in the hotel. Thank you so much, I had a wonderful stay and I will come back for sure. Happy New Year :)

The air in the room is not very well circulated. There is an unpleasant smell.

The room and bathroom are very clean. The bed and pillows are very comfortable. The beautiful living room with the coffee, and tea all the time available is a plus. We had really a pleasant stay!

I was surprised by all the steps in this hotel! Even to get in through the front door you need to climb a couple of steps then a few more to get to the reception. There is an elevator but you still need to climb several flights of stairs to get to it and from there to your room- it’s definitely not for people who have trouble walking or elderly! I also thought it was unusual for everything to be self-service, from the bar to the front door-you receive a front key and have to let yourself in which isn’t as simple when it’s dark outside! The front door is also very narrow. I never experienced this in any hotel I stayed in.

The tub was a little slippery, so be careful. Elevator quit working once, but it was okay. The door to our room could be a little bit of a pain, suggest you upgrade to an electronic one. Thank you.

Our room was large and set up exactly as we had requested. Staff was excellent, particularly the breakfast staff. Breakfast was excellent with many options. One of the best breakfast situations I have ever had. Library on the top floor with available beverages was excellent. We loved Lisbon, and this hotel was one of the reasons why. Thank you!

The entire stay was like staying at a friend’s home, a very gracious and sophisticated friend. The garden was serene and calm, unexpected in the middle of city. The library had a commanding view of harbor at night.

The location is not the closest for the busy tourist areas so can be a little disappointing for a first time visitor but transport is easy; it is close to some museums and local eating places which are very good value.

A lovely heritage hotel with great staff and many nice touches - roof top terrace with library honour bar. Complimentary tea, coffee and water along with some tasty bites in the open ground floor area, carafe of port in the room. Also free entry is possible for some museums. Our room was a nice size with quiet air conditioning and good shower. Lovely breakfast
