Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

MauritiusThis place is SO beautiful and cosy! I was in LIsbon for a conference and all the hotels close to the venue were booked out, luckily for me there was a room left at As Janelas. I LOVED the cozy little library and rooftop, and the inside garden is also beautiful. Was sad to leave! Also, the staff are really warm and friendly. This place is very central, close to places like Time OUt market and the river and tourist spots.

United StatesThe location was quiet but it was still not too difficult to get into other areas of the city. The staff was so friendly and gave us a few extra treats as we were celebrating a 40th birthday.

RomaniaWeak variety for food for breakfast. Breakfast staff made us feel uncomfortable. A smile would have been nice. Everything seemed to be too much trouble for some of them. All the other staff were lovely.
The room is spacious and clean in general. Relaxing. Nice holiday.

United StatesWe were comfortable there, but I would just say that I expected a little more for the price (slightly larger room with more modern/well maintained fixtures).
Very nice staff & lovely, warm welcome. Really nice library with terrace (common room for all the guests).

CanadaTub/Shower was very narrow and hard to turn around in shower and shower head assembly was in the way (even though there was a grab bar). Door didn't close so we kept having to slam it. Found out later that we needed to use the key to lock the door behind us.
beautiful hotel with a lot of little touches. Our room was on third floor which made the balcony/terrace was very pleasant as was the garden area. Windows kept out the traffic noise very effectively (busy street, but handy for buses) but we heard the neighboring room guests when they were active (not often). Location is great for buses and even tram stop. Walked to TimeOut market in about 16 minutes which is close to center. Convenience store across the street and a quite a few good restaurants once you start looking, Amazing croissants at La Boulangerie a few minutes walk away. Almost next to Antiquities Museum (free admission to this and many other museums complimentary with stay) which was well worth the time. Nice park in front of the Antiquities Museum as well. Honor system for refreshments. Complimentary coffee, pastries, port

NetherlandsWe *wanted* to walk a lot (we walked more than 35 km in two days) but be advised that unless you figure out the bus system, this is not the most convenient place to stay for seeing the "famous" sites, and it is also about 2,5 km from the nearest Metro station. There is no view of the river, which is just as well since all one would see is a dockyard with shipping containers and cranes.
The room was comfortable and clean. Everything worked well. The whole interior is lovely and the breakfast outstanding. The staff were all very helpful, for example, getting us taxis and also suggestions for where to eat. Being "between" the Old Town and Belem made it easy for us to walk to both on different days. It was also a nice touch that the room came with a free carafe of port wine!

PortugalNothing. Not one, tiny detail.
I have stayed in or visited maybe a dozen hotels in Lisbon over the years and this is now my favourite. It is a delightful, small boutique hotel, with charming décor and impeccable taste. It is both intimate and spacious. Our room was a good size with a spectacular view, very comfy beds and excellent facilities. It is the details that matter in great hotels and here you can feel the thought and care that gives into them, from the wireless charging pad, international socket adaptors, upmarket bed linen and complimentary carafe of port in the rooms, to three honour pay bars and free coffee and tea throughout the gorgeous public rooms, excellent breakfast and the wonderful, sincerely enthusiastic and committed staff.

SingaporeIt is definitely expensive - to be expected, considering it’s a heritage property.
We had a very comfortable stay in this heritage hotel. While the hotel is not close / walking distance to attractions, it is a short Uber ride away. And it is next to the Antiques museum, for which we get a free pass from the hotel. The room was very comfortable though it was a bit stuffy on the warmer days. The staff helped to air it, though, and then it was okay. The hotel has a beautiful library on the top floor. Breakfast is quite good too. The staff is very helpful and they made us some excellent eating as well as sight seeing suggestions.

United StatesWe had to isolate for 10 extra days because we contracted COVID at the beginning of our stay. The hotel provided excellent support in helping use be comfortable while we complied with Portuguese health regulations. They also helped us get meals through their breakfast facility or from the outside using UberEats or delivery from nearby restaurants. The hotel is comfortably located at a bus stop with access to trams, ferries, and metro.
