Close to the city center, very new apartment

No Host to meet. No information in the apartment (about local info like buses etc.) No “front” door. I think it had been damaged. The gardens and landscaped areas were incomplete with pipes and cables everywhere. Walls unfinished etc. Building materials everywhere. 4 Euros per day to park car on the roof was a joke! In cash!

The apartment was very clean and looked new with terrific views. The apartment had everything we needed. Very comfortable.

Some basics such as milk, bread & margarine on arrival would have been good, as we arrived late, so couldn’t get anything until the next morning. We would have been willing to pay extra for these, so maybe that is a service the owners could consider offering, as the local shop shuts at 2pm in the afternoon.

We loved everything about this accommodation. It’s fairly new, so everything was in great condition and I think it was exceptional value for money. As you will see from other reviews, there are a lot of steps up to the appt. but that wasn’t an issue for us. It’s a short bus ride in to the town, or about €8 in a taxi, if you don’t like steep hills! However, the benefit of staying a little but further out of the centre is that the views are wonderful and the local pub & cafe prices are also much cheaper. There is a small shop just down the road for basic supplies and a pub at the end of the road. We found a great cafe - with fresh home made food - on route into Funchal. All in all, I think this is a great location with easy access to everything that you might need. We didn’t use the pool, but I think it would be great to help cool off in the warmer months. Hopefully, we will be back. Thanks for a wonderful stay. 10 out of 10!

The apartment itself couldn’t really be improved, it’s lovely. However the location was a disadvantage for us. If you have a hire car it would probably be fine (steep hills and narrow roads are everywhere). We were using the buses and found the number 19 the best option back up the hill (if you are there for a week I’d recommend getting a Giro card with a number of rides preloaded - like the Oyster card in London). It meant that we often didn’t feel like going into the city centre in the evening after a day’s sightseeing. We didn’t find any restaurants, bars, supermarkets etc locally. Taxis from the city centre up to the apartment were between €5-€8. From the entrance doorway at street level there were approx 150 steep steps up to our apartment. If you have a car you park up behind the apartments so could avoid most of these steps. Despite this, we did enjoy our stay.

The apartment (10) is a stylish studio with modern styling and furnishings. The small complex seems very new and consequently all the furnishings etc are in excellent condition, and everything was spotlessly clean. It is situated in a residential area. The bed was really comfortable. The balcony has a fabulous view over the bay. The complex manager was friendly, speaking good English, and was able to help us with transport questions etc. A hair drier was provided, plus salt and pepper, washing up liquid and a few washing machine tablets. The swimming pool area was nice, with loungers, etc but the water was too cold for us to use it in February (not surprisingly).

The pool was excellent. The view of Funchal was amazing. Bus stop right by accommodation . Communication with Carla was really helpful.

Everything was good.

It's on a beautiful place, the landscape is amazing, we could see Funchal from the terrace. The room was clean, large and very comfortable. We used the kitchen almost every day to make dinner, we had everything, what we needed. The wifi is good, we didn't had any problem. The parking space is not big, but its because Madeira. Maybe we could have a parking space on the streets, but it was okey for this money. We recommend this apartment for everyone, one of the best, that i ever booked.

It’s obvious it’s a new apartment complex, there’s a lot of workers around, which can be a bit annoying at times

The access up very steep stairs can be daunting and tricky when carrying suitcases etc - useful to give some advance warning. It would be helpful to provide some paperwork eg about how the hob and microwave work and the arrangements for washing and cleaning.

The apartment was lovely, with great facilities and fabulous views. The staff were all really helpful.

Sadly as we know Madeira is a volcanic island, and can be very steep in places, has many steps to the apartment, car recommended.

The property have 2 major flaws: 1) slippery high stairs with NO handles. Once it rains, it is impossible to walk without falling, so my husband felt and slided down the stairs 2) the property is uphill, so roads to the city center are difficult to walk because of high incline, better use taxi. Same applies to returning from center to the hotel. Also I have seen couple of worms in the bath sink after a rain. But I guess it is normal for Madeira.

The view is great. Rooms are designed properly and the personnel were helpful.

Everything at the property was great. We got there very late because our flight delayed but everything was ready for us. The cot and the sofa bed was ready for us. The place was very clean and we had everything that we needed for kitchen. Carla is exceptional. She even bought milk for my little girl. 😊. Mariza picked up us at the airport. Lovely woman, so energetic person . The apartment is very well located, the view is stunning and we were delighted with the fireworks show. There’re bus stop with 2 routes to the centre. The táxi is very cheap and if you want to walk to the centre is not to far. We used to go by foot and come back by taxi. We are already planning to come back if possible for summer and December too. Highly recommend this place.

The access to the parking is not easy (narrow road). One must be able to climb some stairs to achieve de apartment door.

It's worth noting that there's a steep climb, which might be challenging with heavy luggage. Also, there are no shops or restaurants nearby, so having a car is preferable. Taxis and bolts can be unreliable, especially with the hill climb, so plan accordingly. Access to Netflix but no subscription. Huge bathroom but no towel hangers. It would be nice if coffee capsules were provided.

My week-long stay at Carla's apartment in Funchal was nice, especially with my son. The cozy atmosphere and lovely views made our stay delightful.

Room was cleaned once within 11 days, towl change too. This could have been more often.
