How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Very nice and modern hotel situated in the center of Funchal. We stayed only one night but everything was perfect.

Perfect location to explore Funchal! If you have a car, there is a parking garage close by, but you will have to walk with your luggage. We wound up upgrading our room to the junior suite, room 301 to be exact and it was LOVELY! Spacious, great little balcony, and a great view of the city at night. Breakfast was nice, ala carte. Overall I would stay here again!

Restaurant closed quite early
Perfect location within Funchal, staff were all really friendly and helpful, also lots of gluten free options for all meals!

The bathroom was not insulated from noise.

Great location and midcentury modern decor. The room was great with a lovely balcony. Staff was delightful. The restaurant was fabulous and I never eat “hotel” food - ate twice!

Could have closer, free, allocated parking. We were given the option to park our car at the sister hotel a stones throw away, however, we had to pay for this daily.
BEST BREAKFAST IN FUNCHAL! Honestly the best breakfast I've had at a hotel. The Caju was super modern and clean. The decor is calming and cool. Beds super comfy. Loved having a balcony.

We received an upgrade to an attic room. The room was very nice and we really appreciated this kind gesture. However, situated underneath the rooftop, we heard the constant zooming noise from the airconditioning above us. This disturbed our sleep.
Beautiful architecture. Good location. Very friendly staff. Nutritious breakfast.

Lack of choice of drinks from the bar in the evening. No beer, as it ran out and staff could not change barrel, no red wine and no spirits!
Rooms were different but very nicely done, well equipped, clean and comfortable. Excellent breakfast.

The rooms on the top floor have narrow windows, which are charming, but narrow the view. The room was small, but well appointed and mirrors helped to enlarge the space.
The property is perfectly situated for walking through the old town, exploring the harbour and getting to most attractions. It is pedestrian friendly, less traffic at night, quiet friendly vibe, courteous staff. Breakfast was absolutely delicious, fresh and made-to-order. Wonderful coffee and fresh juice.

Gorgeous boutique hotel at the heart of Funchal. Beautiful rooms, comfy robes and slippers, superb location, the restaurant downstairs offers delicious and healthy food. I had a very early start one day and they packed me a lovely brekkie to go that saved me on top of the mountain! I already want to come back

Its as stated - no bar, - to use your card for entry after 6pm though always attended desk, and no rooftop type outside space for relaxation, though gym and rest area in the basement.
The service was great and location is within Funchal itself to suit us. Quiet rooms and tbar he breakfast menu and being served at the table was enjoyable, the room was generous size ,we were top floor - say querky with the walls of concrete shuttering but the overall appearance is ok - designer licence is different i ilked it. Large rain shower super and nice toiletries provided. Welcoming helpful reception. Restaurants very near by, to many to chose.

Really the only issue was the toilet door not staying closed - would have a liked a few more tea bags in the room and some extra milk
I really couldn't fault this hotel. The staff were lovely, the location was great and the beds were super comfy. The shower was hot and powerful. We didn't use the little gym downstairs but we were able to refill our water bottle from inside. Breakfast was very nice - loved the Caju bowl in particular. The only small criticism was our toilet door didn't stay shut - it used to swing open

It was somewhat expensive. We weren’t sorry to have stayed here. The rate was high enough that it might prevent us from choosing this property for future stays.
The room was really nice. Everything worked well. Very quiet. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good. Very well located.

The matress had kind of a slump. I slept tight notwithstanding.
Great breakfast, staff, facilities. Cozy, little hotel, perfectly located. My server Christine went above and beyond making sure I was satisfied, as well as the others.
