Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IcelandThe accommodation is on the pricey side but it was a "treat" during our stay and it was well worth it!
The place is absolutely gorgeous and the views are stunning. We had a wonderful 3 night stay which was by far the highlight of our 2 week vacation in Madeira. I would recommend this place to everyone who's looking for a quiet stay away from the towns and cities.

United KingdomNothing we did not like but I would say it would be difficult to access without a car as it is up quite a steep road
Everything! The views , the surrounding nature. The helpful hosts. The added touch of a bag of fresh bread for each pod every morning. Great location for exploring the south of the island , although in all honesty the north is equally as accessible from Calheta. Calheta itself has a lovely beach and promenade area with a good variety of restaurants with chilled beach vibes. The kids loved the pool on site ❤️

NetherlandsA little more hooks for clothes or towels would be handy inside the pods. Be mindful that it is much more chilly up on the mountain vs down by the water so bring warm clothes if you go in pre-or post season. The road up to the glamping is very steep and narrow, this is not something Carla can do anything about of course but good to be aware of if you are an insecure driver.
I loved my stay here! The view is incredible and Carla was very welcoming and helpful. The place is maintained with a lot of care and the garden / flowers look amazing. Great that there is a laundry machine to use and some basic supplies/honesty bar. Also very nice to have the bread in the morning (although a little but much for 1 person).

United KingdomNothing at all!
How responsive the staff were with any queries, fresh bread in the morning & close to Calhetta beach which is one of the few sandy beaches in Madeira. You can see the sunrise & sunset from the balcony, their kitchenette has pretty much everything you need to cook with a fridge/freezer too!

ItalyThere isn't much space to cook but it's suitable for a short stay.
It's a very beautiful place, surrounded by nature and far away from traffic noise! All you can hear is the sound of frogs and birds. Our stay has been amazing, and the freshly baked bread each morning was a pleasant treat.

GermanyWe were there during the most rainy season so trying to dry clothes and shoes on the covered deck didn't work out too well as the rain moved very sideways.
There was plenty of fresh bread provided in the morning. Some jam, butter, and coffee was provided on the first day as well

United KingdomThe only thing i did not like was the fact that it was quite damp. The bed sit was full of mold and stank of damp. We had to sleep the other way around to be able to sleep. I understand this is a cabin and its quite a wet area but you shouldnt have those issues on places like this.
Great location and stunning views. Also you have all you need.

Czech RepublicThe AC was powered by loud motors under the terrace which was sometimes interrupting the amazing and calm atmosphere. But it was not much of an issue.
The accommodation was very nice and clean. We had a nice view and the terrace was very big. We also appreciated that we received fresh bread every morning. There was also a washing machine which was very convenient.

SlovakiaIt would be helpful to have better signs for the directions. Also, just a heads up that the road to the pods is quite steep, but that’s something you get used to when in Madeira 🙂
Oh my, this was an amazing experience, really! We cut our last day in half so we could come back early and actually enjoy the most incredible views. I could stay for another week or two or more just to enjoy the views and the comfort ♥️. The pods are set in a beautiful garden, you have everything you need to make your stay comfortable. They provide complementary bread in the morning and there is a small “self-service shop” where you can buy some food and drinks, there is also a washing machine available, oh and a pool 😍.

BelgiumDuring the serious storm from last week it was a bit scary staying in a cabin so high up, although there's not much anybody can do about that. The road to the accommodation is quite a while from the rest of "civilization", and the last part of the road isn't in good condition (dirt road) so I did damage my rental car a bit trying to climb the hill and in the meantime avoiding potholes. I did experience bad weather most of the days up in the cabin, while further below in the village 'Calheta' the weather seemed to be much more stable and with less rain. That could be because of the altitude/geographical location of the cabin - or could just be bad luck of course.
Beautiful pods, equipped with the essentials and a stunning view on the terrace. They provided some bread (free of charge) every morning, which was a nice surprise. Parking spot was always available and wifi was working great. The person on site, as well as the host (I contacted her via booking with some questions) were super friendly and helpful, and also responded immediately. The cabin is rather small but has everything you need, the terrace/deck outside is rather large. The hammock (although I wasn't able to use it a lot) is a very cozy place to chill and read a bit. Perfect if you want to get away to enjoy nature and the quit. My friend (the local cow) in front of my cabin was a nice companion to greet me in the mornings :)

NetherlandsThis place is truly a little piece of paradise. The beautiful garden and great view of the surrounding area make it a very special place. Our stay here was the perfect relaxing ending to our vacation. Bonus points for the hammock! Before we got there we were afraid that they would have been affected by the wildfires that broke out in the area shortly before our visit, but fortunately the property and its immediate surroundings were spared.

NetherlandsWe know it's not the owner's fault, but the last bit of road to access the accomodation was very difficult (very steep and gravel). The space on the pods is quite limited, so it can become a bit busy if you have big luggage.
The view and surroundings were very beautiful and extremely peaceful, perfect to relax and enjoy the nature. The pod was super well equipped (air conditioning, coffee machine, kitchen utensils, first aid kit ...) and it was very clean. The spacious balcony on the pod was very pleasant to relax and spend time outdoors. The exterior space where the pods were located was very nicely decorated and all the pods were distant enough so we could have privacy. There was also a washing machine available for everybody. We really enjoyed the treat of having fresh bread everyday, in the morning. We absolutely loved the 9 days we spent on the pod! :)
