From the first moment we arrived, everyone in the hostel was very kind to all of us. Caterina, the hostel manager,also contacted me personally to give me more information and to be at my disposal for anything I needed. All the facilities and services met our expectations and even exceeded them. The hostel itself has a special aura and a very good vibe that I recommend both for people who are travelling with groups of friends or alone. The people who stay here are also very respectful in case you are worried about your rest. The location is excellent as it is very close to all the restaurants, beaches and nightlife. Above all, I recommend you to include Sunday in your stay as you will have the opportunity to have the best pancakes for breakfast in the area! One of the things I would also highlight, apart from the hostel itself, is the small garden, which allows you to relax, sunbathe and do different activities such as yoga or meditation. They also have a skatepark as well as the option to use different surfing equipment. If you are reading this review, I would definitely recommend you stop wasting time looking at other options and book a bed now!!!!

Awesome hostel. The location is perfect for walking to a range of different surf breaks. The included breakfast is great and makes life so much easier. You get a towel included with your stay which is also really helpful. Upon arrival there was a cupboard in the kitchen with my name on it, and an allocated basket in the fridge. The owner also reached out on whatsapp prior to my stay with some useful information and to see if I had any questions :). Theres a shed in the garden to store your boards and theres places to hang your wetsuit too. Had an awesome time overall thanks to the volunteers and other guests.

Absolutely nothing

The Captain's is THE PLACE TO GO when you come to Baleal. From the first moment it gave me the feeling of being welcomed to a lovely family of all ages and backgrounds. Even though I am not a surfer I was an equal member of the community hahaha.The staff was just amazing (big love to the czech crew and Kev) and every evening someone else cooked for the whole hostel and we all ate together. What a treat! The breakfast was abundant with eggs, bread, cereals, coffee....The house is beautifully decorated and the garden and big living room invite you to come together.My room had a little balcony and the bed was comfy for me, even though I have problems with my back. At night it was quiet and I got the rest I wanted. I also met people in other hostels who were just waiting to get a room in the Captain's and many people are coming back every year...maybe I'll be one of them😃

Nothing really! Some rooms are next to the road and glass containers if you have a light sleep, but not a lot of traffic.

It's a special place, great people and volunteers, close to the beach, felt at home within a week :) Well equipped and perfect for surfing, relaxing and having a good time.

If you are going for a dawn patrol surf bring your earplugs just in case. Normal hostel life and nearby bar may keep you up othewise.

Hostel is close to good beaches so morning surf or swim before breakfast is easy to do. After surfing you can rinse yourself and your gear in a backyard shower and leave the gear drying outside. Breakfast is very good. You won´t be left hungry.

- The mattress was still ok but could be changed in the nearer future. I guess I was unlucky with that one.

- Beautiful place with an intrinsic and unique character due to the detailed artwork implemented into every part of the hostel. - The 4 voluntaries are sweethearts that keep the place cozy and help you out with every question that may come up. They are also responsible for the included breakfast that offers everything you could ask for. - Many rooms have their own balcony and if not, there is still the roof top terrace with a great sunset view. - You have good rental conditions directly at the hostel for boards and bikes. - 3 min by foot to the coastline. - Overall, a clean and very well equiped hostel that makes you get in touch with people while offering a pleasant and relaxing atmosphere.

Room was a bit hot, and had a bit of noise since it was right in the backyard and near the kitchen. But usually there wasn't noise between 23h and 7h.

We stayed in a small room with access to the backyard, it had a private bathroom. Good room for the price. Breakfast was included and we could use a communal kitchen. The people were very nice, the room was very clean just a bit hot a fan would be needed maybe. It's a good place for a small vacation near the beach (300m). Good for friends, surfers, or even couples. Wouldn't recommend for a family. Decoration is amazing.

Some equipment in the bathroom is tired, but it's ok for the price. All the house wakes up at 7.30, so it's impossible to sleep longer

A super nice place for surfers from all over the globe, close to all the infrastructure. Super great people around, cool living room with plenty of games for evenings, the kitchen has everything necessary to cook.
