Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

The property had a beautiful old charm feel about it but was modern if that makes sense. We stayed 5 nights in the jacuzzi III room and it was spacious, sparkling clean and well furnished. The hot tub was a great help because it was 35 degrees every day and we just turned down the temperature in the tub and it was very helpful to keep us cool. There is also a small pool on the property A great view of the city too. Right in the centre with restaurants and bars all around.

United KingdomIt is a wonderful hotel. Lovely staff. My only slight niggle was the noise of the air conditioning and the very slow breakfast service. I asked for a glass of water three times but it never came! Not a big problem because the hotel is wonderful.

United StatesThere wasn't anything that we did not like.
We loved our room, the Rossio Terrace, which had an expansive city view from the balcony. The pool was perfect for cooling off in the afternoon after the day's sightseeing. The common rooms were inviting in their comfortable, modern style.

CanadaThe staff was absolutely wonderful, we had to leave the hotel at 4 am and since we were missing the breakfast at 7am they were so kind to prepare us some plates the day before and leave in our room. Gorgeous views of the city and beautiful room, would definitely stay here again ❤️

United StatesThe location is very central to many Lisbon points of interest and good restaurants. Overall I found the hotel to be surprisingly quiet for a property in the middle of a large city. Breakfast each day was very good and the staff was friendly and courteous.

United StatesCB was certainly pricey, but well worth it given the rooms, staff, and amazing focus on details.
We had a smooth check-in. Rui was wonderful and helped us get settled. We drove our car down the small street and parked inside their garage area. By my count, they had about 6 total spots, plenty available when we parked. I had emailed in advance letting them know I would like to reserve a spot for our stay. The room was amazing. We loved our very comfortable and large king size bed, beautiful terrace with direct and fantastic views of Alfama and Lisbon overall, and wow, was this place central! Right next to Baixa, Alfama, and Barrio Alto, all within 10 min walk. Shopping too at the Avenida de Liberadade was maybe 12-14 min walk from the hotel. There are definitely some stairs to walk up and some steeper streets in general near Lisbon but also adjacent to the hotel, but we loved it. The jacuzzi warmed up nicely (it was cool at check-in, but by the time we got back after dinner that first night, it was ready for us!). In-room Nespresso coffee was perfect to start the morning, but the breakfast area also had coffee options with multiple milk options including almond. Pastel de nata, ham, cheese, granola with yogurt, fresh juices, etc. were all available. We didn't use the pool, but did book the downstairs private spa for an hour, which was awesome. Larger hot tub, steam room, and sauna all there in a beautifully designed and spacious room. Highly recommend checking it out. Bathroom was also quite clean with a large shower with great water pressure and hot water, we especially loved the heated towel racks. We will definitely be back to Casa Balthazar as it was a fantastic place with beautiful rooms, perfect location, and wonderful staff.

United KingdomIt was an oasis of calm in a great location on the edge of the Barrio Alto neighbourhood. It was within easy walking distance of all the major attractions. The continental breakfasts were excellent (especially the pastel de nata) and the small pool was very refreshing after a morning of sightseeing.
