Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomStunning interior, a beautiful place to stay! A 2 min walk from the beautiful beach, two little supermarkets and a bakery again 2 mins walk away. The host was amazing and so helpful! I couldn’t fault it, we actually ended up booking to stay here for another night to just give us some down time on our travels. Highly recommend!

GermanyGreat Location close to the beach of Costa de Lavos. The building and interior design is marvellous – very modern but cosy at the same time. The restaurant Xiringuito which belongs to the same owners is also worth a visit, as you will sit in front of the ocean while enjoying delicious seafood and refreshing drinks.

United StatesI regret that we couldn’t stay longer. It was wonderful.
The apartment was well laid out with several private bedrooms and shared common areas. It felt clean, safe and secure. The bedroom was comfortable and the bathtub was huge. Very well designed around the comfort of the guests. Kitchen had everything we needed. If I had a big group, this would be the perfect place to vacation. We were very happy with this property.

United StatesThe weather :). We would love to return and stay at the Casa d'Avo Dalina with sunnier weather. Apparently just the week before had been one of the nicest weeks of the summer
We were alone in the house, which has six different rooms, most with private bathrooms. The bathrooms are outside the rooms, with separate keys. The house is very new, with lots of natural wood and lots of light. A shared area includes a kitchen and a courtyard, as well as a large dining table. We did not get to use much of the shared spaces, as we were out most of the time. Very close to the beach and to a couple of nice local restaurants. Our stay there was during very rainy and windy weather, but we enjoyed it nonetheless. We had not set up a meeting time with the owner, and we did not have a working phone when we got there. The owner of the nearby corner store was kind enough to let us call the owner -- who arrived shortly and let us in.

GermanySome things need to be checked and repaired. (Maybe because it was the end of the season) Some basic cooking ingredients would be nice too (salt, pepper, oil etc.)
Hands down the most beautiful and stylish place I stayed in in a while. Lovely rooms and an amazing community area. The host also operates a restaurant with local cusine nearby. Highly recommended!

United KingdomThe guest house is situated in a great area, but it is fairly quiet, so if you're looking for a place with lots of bars and restaurants nearby then you'll probably be disappointed. However Figuiera Da Foz is 10-15 mins drive away and although I wasn't blown away by Fig, it does have a few places that are certainly worth checking out for dinner and drinks.
This guest house is well designed with fresh interiors and an excellent design. The rooms were large and spacious and the facilities were cleaned daily. The owners also run a bar/restaurant 5 mins walk from the property in case you want to sample some local Portuguese delights

NetherlandsThe location is like a hotel with several rooms and a common area with a kitchen. There's no services from the staff apart from the general cleaning. That's odd but also nice since you'll meet the other guests. The beach is the main thing, very close and really nice. Getting out of the little village (no ATM and only small mini markets) needs a car.

United KingdomWhen we were booking we were under the impression that it was a self contained property. It is in fact a shared space, each room has its own bathroom but the kitchen and living space is shared between 6 rooms. This wasn’t a problem for us as it was nice meeting guests from around the world. The rooms are far apart and it feels private. We just had not realised. The resort itself can be very windy and the sea inaccessible to swim in safely because it’s the fierce Atlantic coast. Having said this, it’s breathtakingly beautiful. I can’t really fault this place.
It was very stylish, with lots of care and attention to detail. It was gorgeous, beautiful to be in with high spec modern finishes and touches. Lovely kitchen and bathroom facilities and comfy clean bed. Air conditioning provided and excellent cleanliness throughout. A real treat and I loved that the owner was relaxed and ran the beach bar on the beautiful beach a few hundred metres down the street. The whole experience was great, excellent food and surroundings at the beach bar/restaurant added to the stay. It was a resort for local Portuguese holidayers and felt authentic, not touristic. The local supermarkets, bars and gift shop added to the charm of the place. Carlos was a very helpful host.

PortugalWe stayed there twice within 2 weeks. We thought one room had a private bathroom in the room, but that one was actually across the hall. It is still your private bathroom, but just not within the room which is a bit inconvenient every now and then. Also, as me and my partner are surfers; it was a bit of a struggle to find place for our boards and to hang our wet wetsuits somewhere. But we made it work.
Costa de Lavos is the most delightful town when you come from more busy towns. It is a very small fisherman’s village and you can see that everywhere. It is very peaceful and everyone is super friendly. Casa d´Avó Dalina is a very modern guest house in the middle from it all. If you walk out of the door and blink twice, you are already at the beach. Enough free parking possibilities around. The rooms are decorated simple but in a very nice and modern way. This way it makes you feel at home super fast. The living room, kitchen and patio are done in a similar way. Very nice! Very much recommended.
