We were not aware that Casa das Obras was a 250 year old manor house. It has been sympathetically renovated with beautiful rooms, all with ensuite bathrooms. It has impressive reception areas, and multiple cosy rooms for relaxing. It was centrally heated and spotlessly clean. A magnificent buffet breakfast was included. For warmer weather it has a lovely garden with a swimming pool. The host was on site to greet us, and available throughout our stay for anything we required. We would not hesitate to stay again.

    Nothing, everything was great

We loved this property, rich with history, full of interesting common areas to explore and relax in. We enjoyed playing cards in the game room and there was also an option to play pool. There was cake, tea and coffee available all the time which was nice after a long day of hiking. Breakfast had a wide variety of local pastries and homemade yogurt, fresh fruits, meats and cheeses, etc. The lady running the place was so kind and attentive. She even does the fresh flower arrangements throughout the premises from their gardens. Parking was easy on the street right by the property. We hiked for two days, and just walked to the trailheads from the hotel. This place was such a great value for the money and we would stay there again.

Navigation to the property was difficult for us, we are not used to narrow streets with many one ways. Perhaps some written directions for different approaches may help

The breakfast was superb, so much variety and very fresh. The history of the building was fascinating and Emelia was very generous with her time.

Not a thing. Property is on rather a steep hill, but not an issue if you go back and forth by car.

It’s hard to know where to start when describing this property. Our rooms were large and spacious, and decorated with old world elegance. The beds were even larger than king size and super comfy. The breakfast was excelkent and served in a beautiful dining room. The whole place felt luxurious, from the cozy lounge, with fireplace, to the billiard room and den. The staff was kind and attentive. Highly recommended.

Amazing hotel, full of charming details like paintings and monuments and original pieces of furniture. The lovely host made a tour around the building and told about the history of the hotel. The room itself was very spacious, no problems with the water and tasty breakfast upstairs! I would definetely stay here during my next trip to the mountains. 10/10!

Nothing at all it was 10/10

We arrived at the house after a stressful day having broken down in Nazare. We couldn’t find the house to begin with, it was far and raining and we weren’t in sane mind!! Amelia was delightful, she came out with an umbrella to find us and welcomed us like long lost friends. Within a minute of being inside our stresses fell away and we settled into the beautiful home. Our room was stunning, the bed super comfortable and spotlessly clean. There was coffee, tea, water and a range of beautiful cakes and rice biscuits on a tray in the hall for us to enjoy. The TV room, snooker table and chess nook are delightful and breakfast is something else! The best green juice I have ever tasted and the best banana bread outside of Australia!!! Thank you so much for a lovely stay and making us feel so at home and welcome. We spent a lovely few hours in Granittus Bar with some super friendly locals. The wine was superb and the food fresh and flavoursome. Would highly recommend.
