Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThere was nothing. We liked it all.
This little place right on the Camino de Santiago was perfect for our needs. The location was peaceful overlooking farmland. Sergio, our host, communicated with us right from the time of booking to explain where the key would be and the services available. He popped in to see that everything was fine and gave us a souvenir of our stay which we were most grateful for. Our small apartment was beautifully decorated and oozing with character. It was comfortable, there were snacks to purchase and a coffee machine. The bed was comfy and the shower hot. The small kitchen provided everything we needed.

United KingdomCheck in could be smoother, maybe let people know where the key is in advance? Also the honour system for food drinks wasn’t great, if you’re going to do that you need to actual have stock of items. And the prices seemed ridiculous. More expensive than in an actual bar/hotel. Not sure you can justify asking €2 for a coffee pod. Not sure you should be asking people to pay for coffee at all really personally! (Like towels and soap I personally think a coffee should be included)
The room is very comfy and the space is clean. Good shower and the little outside space with private entrance was a nice touch.

United KingdomA larger wash basin in the shower room would have been more usable as the area is quite large. Most utensils were available but more than one wine glass would be an improvement.
The location is very central to many beautiful locations making ideal for a short stay to relax and explore. Overall much has been made of limited space with good facilities making the stay cosy, peaceful and very much in touch with the natural surroundings.

SwedenI missed when booking that the second bed is not a regular bed. It is under the double bed. I thought there were two regular beds. I can see now in the photo that it is only one.
Just off the camino this property was both well located and remote in a lovely way. We had a nice size room, clean, modern facilities and a small kitchen. It was very relaxing! The owner was very nice and helped out with several things. We were lucky enough to be there when the "bread guy" was coming and bought fresh bread for a great price.

United KingdomThe property is within an isolated location, which has some positive, but I would recommend that the owner share more details on how to access it as there are no external signs to tell you that you arrived at the property and where to park (and I arrived during day time).
The accommodation I was given was comfortable and was a self-catering place which is good to know prior to getting there as the place is isolated to towns (so if you don't want to get out for dinner, get to the shops to buy food/drinks before you get to the property). Bed was comfortable, good shower and outside was a small table with 2 chairs to enjoy the outside view. There is a kitchen with all that you need to cook your meals. It is not far from tourist site like Conimbriga ruins and Tomar' convent Christ to name a few. The owners were not in on the day I arrived and sent me details on how to find the key to my room. They were quick at responding to my messages.

AustraliaBed is a little short if you’re over average height.
Beautiful guest house right on the Camino trail. We were surprised that our room had its own kitchen and appreciated that some supplies (wine, beer, noodles, coffee etc) had been left with an honesty system in place. The owner was so friendly - gave us a very warm welcome and farewell. We felt very at home.

New ZealandNothing We were aware that there were no food shops in the village and brought food with us to cook.
The apartment was ideal for 2 weary pilgrims to relax in after a hot day of walking. Immaculate standard of cleanliness and furnished with interesting pieces. Very much appreciated the 3 freshly laid chicken eggs given to me by the host for dinner.

United StatesI’ll walking Camino de Santiago and stayed there one night on my way. I think this is very nice place but costly for pilgrims. keep in mind this is very remote village and there are no cafes, restaurants, or grocery stores. nearby cafe is about 2km away, so if you a pilgrim add about 4km walk to get some food. I read some reviews saying the owner cooked meal for them. nobody offered me any meal, no dinner no breakfast. maybe I was needed to ask… I messaged them via booking.com but got no response…
very nice place! clean and comfortable.

United Arab EmiratesWell i could say the internet does not work very well (both wifi and my data), however maybe that is actually an advantage so you can enjoy the place more!
I stayed here while walking the Ruta Carmelita to Fatima. The room is really beautiful and Sergio and his family very welcoming. It is in the countryside with no shops around so I preordered a vegetarian dinner which was great and the lady of the house gave me some yummy strawberries as well. I also had a great chat with the family. The place is so peaceful and quiet, the perfect place to relax after a long day of walking. In the morning their dog walked with me for a while which was really nice company.
