Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

We didn't have breakfast but the dinner was great. My friend is a vegan and I am a vegetarian and we both loved the food. So lovelyy to have a bag of wood delivered and a fire made for us upon our arrival during a rainy day. So surprised the kitchen was so complete-though we did not use it. also the shower had great water pressure and hot water.

AustraliaWe were quite cold. Fire didn’t quite do it for us (maybe we’re not efficient with the wood).
We were there on a rainy weekday. It was quiet, gloomy and perfect. Staff from the tavern were great.

CanadaWe loved it. But it’s not for everyone. The drive is a bit hair-raising on a single-track, switch-backed road that doesn’t have guardrails in places.
It is unique as is the entire village of restored Xisto houses, quiet and wonderful staff.

SwedenNo big issues but I would recommend that the host look at the frying pan and some cutlery that might need upgrade.
Excellent location and the house Ti Rosario we stayed in had 3 floors with kitchen at the bottom, bathroom and small bed on 2nd floor and bedroom with double bed on top floor. A bit small rooms but that is part of the charm. Fireplace at the kitchen ground floor was great and really heat up at least the first 2 floors. Wifi free and good. Several good walks in the mountains/forest from Talasnal - really recommend the walk to the Castle. The mini-shop in the village is only open sat/sun so make sure to buy any food & drinks in Lousã in advance.

PortugalThe house is right next to a restaurant which is noisy in the early morning, boisterous at lunchtime time and less noise in the evening so if you're looking for calm you might want to choose any other houses available by this company.
The location is amazing, the house has everything a person needs to feel comfortable and the perfect place to enjoy beautiful mountain views.

United KingdomThere needed to be instructions please about how to turn on an ceramic induction hob. I DID NOT HAVE A CLUE having never used one - and it took us over an hour of looking up on You Tube without any success. We were given a clue by the staff at the bar but they were so busy that there was no way they could come and help and they had no instruction book. Their suggestion that we hold down a certain button for a VERY LONG time did eventually allow us to use one ring but I do think it was not working and we could not have tried to cook again!
The total peace and quiet of the landscape with a beautiful view of the whole valley and beyond from the balcony. There were no properties in occupation nearby so we probably experienced the location at it's best. The kitchen was incredibly well equipped with extra useful touches : salt and pepper, wash up liquid etc... very helpful. The restaurant served an excellent Vegetarian dish of food - thank you!

South AfricaThe food at the restaurant was diabolical! We ordered ‘pork’ and we got a huge fat ‘sausage’ in a casing . The pork meat/mush tasted like I imaging dog food to taste. It was served with the ‘usual’ rice, ‘fruit????’ (Big chunks of fairly tasteless fruit) , but it was the worst meal we have had in Portugal so far!!’

United Kingdom- One suggestion for the house is to consider adding AC or, at the very least, a fan in the two double bedrooms upstairs. Despite closed windows, those rooms can become exceedingly hot. - The dorm bedroom and the kitchen area experience weak WiFi signals when closed off. Investing in a WiFi extender for these spaces would be a valuable improvement. Apart from that it was working perfectly.
The house was pristine and had 10 beds plus a sofa bed, each room boasting its own bathroom, which was truly impressive. While we stayed, we encountered some issues with the hot tub, but the owner and Catarina were incredibly helpful, swiftly resolving everything. Within the village, there are at least 4 restaurants, though we only dined at the Taberna, which I believe is the main one, and the kitched closes at 9pm so take that into consideration if you like late dinners. For table reservations, especially in the evenings, I recommend booking a table as we did. Depending on the day and village occupancy, it can get quite busy. The Taberna offers a wide vary of dishes, including salads and vegan options. Breakfast has a fixed menu priced at 6€, but there are other menu options available at the same or lower prices. But each option it comes really well served. Portions are good and in some cases you can even share with someone if you don’t eat much. You can also find a very small grocery shop and two souvenir shops are located in the village. Is definitely a great place to unplug!
