Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyThe staff was very mixed, partly unfriendly and awkward (there some nice people as well), they didn't even try to hide that the working atmosphere was really bad. Borrowing a kettle to make some tea or own coffee was not possible. The breakfast isn't even 3 stars, half of the pastries were from the day before and really hard, the coffee was the worst in the two weeks traveling in Southern Europe (therefore the wish to get a kettle to make own coffee). For the price you can stay in 5 star resorts close by, that's what we did for the last days.
The view from the rooms are amazing to see the sunset over the ocean, the pool area with natural shadow from palm trees is very beautiful and well taken care of. There are nice costal walks starting close to the hotel.

IrelandThe main negative was that it was a 40 minute walk along a quiet road to the local square if you wished to dine out. The local taxi offering was extremely expensive. The menu at the hotel was quite limited when it came to snacks and evening meals although they did have a quality breakfast buffet. This hotel would really benefit from the provision of occasional transfers to the local square in Ferraguda.
The hotel had marvelous views and was spotlessly clean. Breakfast was excellent. In close proximity to a beautiful beach - 5 min walk.

GermanyLoud music blasting from the other side of the shore at night (not their fault, but if you’re looking for a quiet oasis, it won’t be the case). The dinners are quite expensive and there is little choice, and the food is sometimes great, sometimes mediocre. The price for the stay is too high compared to the overall quality.
Nice ocean view, pool, and garden. Lovely beach just a few steps away. Some tasty restaurants nearby.

United KingdomNo vegetarian/vegan option on the menu.
Casabela is a beautiful hotel. The staff are very friendly and the pool is lovely. The breakfast was great but there was no vegetarian/vegan option for dinner (unless we pre-booked the vegetarian meal 24 hours before). However everything else was fantastic and it didn’t stop our enjoyment of the hotel as we were able to eat out elsewhere in the evenings. The private path to the beach was lovely.

NorwayMalfunctioning aircondition and hence very hot in our room, poor lighting in bathroom.
The staff was absolutely wonderful!! Hotel was also really nice, with nice pool area and approx 7 min walk from the beach. I was travelling with my adult (22y) daughter. The hotel is a little in the middle of nowhere, so be prepared to walk or uber to get to restaurants and shops etc. This considered, it would be nice if hotel sold some more snacks like potato chips or nuts or chocolate. The room was quite big and with plenty storage opportunities. Very poor lighting in bathroom, though. On the negative side, the airconditioning stopped working on the third of 6 days, the lovely and helpful staff tried to fix it several times but with no success, which made the heat in the room (37degrees..) quite unpleasant as we could not leave the veranda door open on the first floor when asleep - and no window. I think we should have been made the offer of a fan + reduction in price because of the AC-problem, but all in all we are very happy with our stay at Hotel Casabela!

GermanyI wish the safe in the room worked so we can secure our valuables. The bar snack menu was also limited. Being in Portugal, it would have been great to have some seafood as part of the offering. Other than that, our expert was positive.
The hotel is located near the beach and is about 10 - 15 minutes to the city centre and Praia da Rocha beach. It has a swimming pool and we’ll maintained garden. The staff is friendly and always willing to help. Although, we could communicate well in English with the Bar staff, they were always willing to help. The rooms are tastefully decorated, clean and spacious. The hotel offers beach/swimming pool towels.

the entire hotel was spotlessly clean and could not be faulted. room was cleaned every day and all communal areas were well kept. staff were very helpful and friendly. The beach was also beautiful and had a lovely walk down to it from the pool. Location was great a short drive into ferragudo for shops/restaurants and maybe 15 minutes from portimao. parking on site too which was free. woul definitely stay again!
