Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

PortugalThe staff is really friendly and they make you feel at home The contrast between old and new is amazing, the rooms are cozy and modern, and they preserved some old sections of the house, making it feel like a museum

PortugalGenuinely trying to think of something. Nothing comes to mind.
Everything is amazing. The house itself, the rooms (beautifully designed), the terrace, the breakfast (those toasts with that delicious Casal de Palácios olive oil are something to die for)… Probably the best places I’ve stayed in years. Definitely going back when traveling to that region again.

United States-
The location was a little further than we expected, but it was a lovely place. The breakfast was amazing. Our host shared his restoration of the family property. He was able to make reservation for dinner near by where we had a fantastic meal. Would love to return.

LuxembourgThe staff was very helping and gave me some advice about restaurants in the area, the breakfast was very nice and had plenty of choice, 15 minutes away from Bragança, very calm and quiet, during the night there may be some dogs barking but after shutting the windows it was okay. Very nice restored building. Nice play to take some rest away from the city center.

The property is a delightful converted farm in a tiny quiet village. Our host Rui was so friendly and helpful, providing travel tips and advice about visiting the region. The delicious breakfast was simple but with a large variety of home made jams and farm grown fruit such as plums, grapes, blackberries, amazing figs and even honeycomb which was a first for me and quite divine. The beds were very comfortable and the rooms were very clean.

PortugalBathroom: an additional shelf for toiletries would make the bathroom more comfortable.
Location: Palácios is a small, quiet village in the Montesinho Nature Park. A good base to visit the eastern part of the park or even all the park (if you don’t mind extra driving about 30km per day when visiting western part). There are two good restaurants nearby Lombada and O Rustico, both about 10-15 min on foot (but note that it will be dark when you come back after a dinner). Ask the host to make reservation as both restaurants are popular. And be careful when ordering. Half portion is more than enough for one person, and full portion is impossible to eat. Hotel: Former farmstead belonging to the family of the host for ages was converted into 4 star hotel while maintaining the charm and character of the old property. Great common area comprising a breakfast room with a panoramic window with nature view, siting area with a chimney, game room with a library. The hotel is decorated with artwork created by the family members, there is also a small exhibition room. Room: The functional arrangement typical for this region is maintained in the hotel with rooms located upstairs (ground level was traditionally used for the agricultural activity). The room was large, well designed, with a balcony over the garden. electric sockets: easily accessible including sockets near the bed lighting: good Bed: large and comfortable Bathroom: large, I liked the roof window. A portable heater is available that can be used to heat up the bathroom if necessary (important for winter) Breakfast: very good, both if you prefer German style (ham, cheese, local meat, homemade bread) and French style (homemade cakes, jams, orange juice) WiFi: fast, with strong signal. Important as there is no mobile network in the village. Staff: excellent service, we were also guided over the property including an exhibition of works by the father and brother of the host. Parking: at the street, front of the hotel, safe. Covid: covid passports are required and other measures are observed.
