Some things didn’t work properly like the toilet and the tap in the kitchen. The chairs were not stable. The door to the kitchen doesn’t open properly.

The breakfast was not at the level of all the rest.

A very nice place in a wonderful land, with an amazing view. Properly heated, in spite of the cold. Everything clean, beds very comfortable, very nice decoration.

The room was built around rocks which were very cold. The heating system was not a match for the cold. 20 hours in the room and it never warmed up. This place would be perfect when the weather warms and heats the rocks.

The room has been formed around the famous big rocks.

Casas da Villa is a lovely property. Very comfortable and complete. Breakfast was very basic prepackaged. While I’m OK with that, it would have been nice to know so I could pick up a few breakfast items at the supermarket.

Wifi speed is very slow Cleanliness: we found a dried house lizard dropping on a bed in the attic bedroom

I read some reviews before booking this place. Many complained about hauling their bags from the public parking, up to the hotel in narrow lanes. I still booked it and got prepared for that hike. When we arrived at the parking, staff was waiting for us in his mini car. We stuff all suitcases in his car, and we hike up with only our handbags to meet him at the apartment. There were the baskets of welcome snacks, as well as coffee and tea. Ham, cheese, milk, and juice for breakfast had already been in the fridge. Fresh baked bread was hung at the door in the morning. Location is easy to explore the town and the castle. There is a restaurant only a few steps from the apartment that serve resonable prices of local dishes. The view from the restaurant's terrace is breathtaking Staff is friendly. We communicated via WhatsApp and always received quick responses from him. The downstairs bedroom is spacious, and the beds are comfortable. We loved the experience of staying in a house that built next to the boulders.

Great location and wonderful accommodations. John, our host went above and beyond to make our stay perfect. He helped us with parking, getting our luggage to our room, and even dinner reservations. He even made suggestions on a wonderful side trip.

The location of the unit was perfect . . . right in the middle of the city, was clean & was what we expected . . . gave the feeling of living in a "rock city"! Loved the ambiance & quaintness of the unit. Was clean & well equipped. It was a very "unique" experience, which we thoroughly enjoyed!!

It was fabulous to stay in a stone house in this enchanting hilltop village. Everything we needed was right there, it was clean, the bed was comfortable and fresh bread delivered in the mornings.

Not really a negative - just a suggestion that they provide more coffee - I mentioned this to Joao. Also a suggestion - the restaurants are limited, and apparently getting a dinner reservation is not normally an issue, but it was for us (no biggy) - it might be nice to offer to make dinner reservations for folks (of their choosing - so no favoritism on the part of the facility) when they book the space - just a thought.

This was a really lovely experience!! Joao (host)was just terrific - so pleasant and helpful! The studio is perfect and nicely outfitted - they provided breakfast makings and brought fresh bread in the am. I think it is fair value for money - I would say you are paying in part for the experience of living in this room in a boulder space which is well worth it!! It really did make Monsanto even more memorabIe! I would do it again and highly recommend it! Thanks for the memories!!

No a problem for us but Monsanto is not ideal for people with mobility limitation.

Breakfast essentials were already in the Fridge upon our arrival and fresh bread was delivered in the morning. The house was perfectly located in beautiful Monsanto right on the path to the Castle. Monsanto was the highlight of our trip to Portugal.

The only thing is you had to pack lightly because parking was not close to the apartment .

Location is in the center of the village within walking distance of places to eat and the castle. The balcony had spectacular views. The unit itself was very unique in that it was built into the stone.

WHAT AN AWESOME PLACE!! We rented 3 of the apartments and each seamlessly balanced the historic charm with modern comforts. The host was responsive and helpful, and we would all recommend these apartments to friends and family!!

Car parking is a little unclear. Best to park on the hill leading to town or by the cannons and walk to the room. Do not walk up with wheelie-bags (use backpack). Lack of dining options on a Sunday night, basically everything closed down.

Charming apartment built into rocks. Snacks and breakfast provided. Free WIFI, good Air Con and sleep quality.

It would be easier to meet the host lower down the hill as it is a little bit difficult to find and it's not a wise move to drive a car up into the village unless you're a local.

The fresh bread left in the morning for breakfast was excellent.

Location was good. We did not stay for the bread to arrive because we had to leave early in the morning. However, there were packet toasts, cookies, packet cakes, milk, orange juice, ham and cheese in the fridge so we did not go hungry before we left.

Extremely comfortable one bedroom apartment near the top of the village. It is unique - the bedroom/dining room and ensuite bathroom are integrated into the rocky outcrops of Monsanto. Very modern with fully equipped kitchen. We were met promptly by a charming lady who explained everything. A good breakfast was provided in the fridge and in the morning fresh crusty bread was delivered to our door. There is a good taverna (Lusitania) up th hill which has tapas and Celtic music a cliff-top terrace.

There was sometimes a bad smell in the bathroom. Of course you should be in a good physical condition, because it is a village in the mountains with steep roads and ways,but this "problem" you will have with every house.

This is a very quiet place in the center of the old town of Monsanto. In the very near there is a restaurant. The communication in order to get the key for the house was very uncomplicate and easy. The house is very low and you have to take care not to bump your head, especially if you are tall. The breakfast is prepared in the refrig. and fresh bread will be delivered in the morning. It is a simple breakfast, but ok.
