Not much...we loved it! My only suggestion is that someone could clean the plexiglass beside the outdoor pool so that swimmers could better enjoy the view.

Loved the rooftop pool and hot tub, the sauna and steam rooms on the lower level, the fun furniture and decor throughout the common areas, the kind and helpful staff, the amazing breakfasts, and the location. In fact, we liked it so much that we forfeited a night at another hotel to return to Castanheiro for our final night in Funchal.

Breakfast was missing options that weren't unhealthy fat types or the types of carbs that don’t trigger blood sugar, e.g. no fish, no avocado, limited nuts / seeds. Lots of fruit and “full English” options.

Breakfast was excellent, pool was small but pretty rooftop setting, staff were super helpful, lots of returning customers, room was quiet, Easter Sunday fine dining meal was super and great value.

Absolutely nothing

Amazing breakfast - there was nothing missing. Engaging staff, polite and ever so helpful. Hotel location is right in the centre of town. Hotel is clean and well decorated. Pools, sauna are all in really good conditions. Room was amazing with great views, bed was super comfy - could not have asked for me.

There is nothing not to like about this hotel! From the moment we arrived and were offered a glass of madeira wine, we were hooked!

This hotel is exceptional in many ways - the location is great, the food is amazing and the staff couldn't be more welcoming and helpful - can't wait to go back! Our room was large with a seating area and a walk in shower. The rooftop area was fantastic with the infinity pool and drinks and snacks service from the bar - great views!

The noise from the hotel machinery spoilt the quiet of the courtyard area.

The hotel is very well situated in the centre of Funchal. The rooftop infinity pool was lovely for swimming, with views of the town all around.

Very smart hotel in central funchal location. Staff very welcoming, friendly and helpful. Very nice public spaces in which to relax. Great bar. Indoor pool and steam/sauna in basement. Good breakfast. Good value for money. We would definitely stay here again if returning to fFunchal

Room was on the dark side because of only one window. No parking

Staff was incredible - we didn't have breakfast because it was too crowded and went for a walk instead. When we returned, they remembered us and made an exception to let us eat late. The roof terrace and pool are absolutely stunning, the room and bathroom huge and well laid out

Everything, the room was absolutely beautiful, nice and tidy the facilities were amazing, I really enjoyed spending that one to one time with my boyfriend enjoying the pool, the spa and sauna, especially the breakfast with the offer to buffet! There was a little bit for everyone!

Lovely welcoming hotel with a fabulous restaurant attached - Tipografia. We had a late flight out and were able to return to the hotel and lounge in the sun on the roof and use the pool until we were ready to leave.
