How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

- Check-In Timing: While the Celeste's enthusiasm was appreciated, after a long, warm and tiring day of walking the Camino, we would have preferred to settle in first and freshen up :) before the administrative check-in process (filling in endless questionnaire in the iPad, I travel a lot and never filled in such comprehensive questionnaire). - Noise from Upstairs: There were children upstairs enjoying their evening, resulting in some noticeable noise. It was bearable but worth mentioning for those seeking a quieter atmosphere. - Breakfast Limitations: While you can choose your breakfast preferences during check in, be aware that the portion sizes are somewhat strict. This might be suitable for lighter eaters, but those expecting a full-board breakfast experience could be disappointed. Bathroom - slightly older but under maintenance & clean amenities. Consider add extra place at least dry your small laundry.
- Warm Welcome: The host's warm and welcoming immediately put us at ease. - Excellent Cleanliness: The cleanliness of the accommodation was outstanding, ensuring a comfortable stay. - Thoughtful Touches: Many small touches made our stay special, even though the host didn't speak English. - Instructions were readily available, making it easy to navigate our stay. - Grandma's House Vibe: The atmosphere of the place gave us the feeling of visiting grandma's house, which added a cozy and nostalgic touch to our stay. we had room with nice balcony with seating area. But please be aware you have no common rooms or access to the kitchen, no eating in the room house rule, consider before booking you could be disappointed. -Huge shopping mercado close by, also some small bistro restaurant, but area is basically off the city centre mostly between flats and houses. Please note: Detour from Camino: The guest house is slightly off the main Camino route, which may require a brief detour for those on a strict schedule.

Is a bit far from the center if you come walking, I took an Uber (4 eur) and it took 5 minutes to get there, but it’s important to keep this in mind
Celeste os such a nice lady and her service is outstanding. I was doing the Camino and she welcomed me with a delicious soups of vegetables grown on her garden. She was so eager to help with everything, both the room and the bathroom were super clean and well maintained. Breakfast was also very good! My soul was full of love when I left!

I will definitely recommend this lovely home. Daughter also helped out so much obrigada
Amazing host. Loved chatting with Celeste and she treated me like family. Loved having a bath after a long hike. Great breakfast too.

It wasn't what we expected, maybe we overlooked some details when booking. The place is relatively far from the center, especially if walking (there were no buses in the morning or evening). It's a room in a private home, with the kitchen under lock, so it felt limiting, with access only to the room and bathroom (no common area, no kitchen); the WiFi didn't work from the room.
The room itself was very nice, the bed very comfortable, the bathroom clean and modern (at least the one I used). Celeste, the owner, was nice and tried to be accomodating.

The check in is totally crazy. I had several messages to say I had to fill in the form electronically on my phone. Too much effort and what seemed like totally unnecessary info. We had to fill it in when we arrived on her iPad. This took about 10 minutes each. No other hotel in Portugal has required so much info. We had to read in front of the host all of her booklet. When I dismissed the page on washing as I had no washing to do she made me read it all?! The decor was definitely not to my taste - very frilly The location is not great but there is a great barbecue restaurant down the road
