Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyAs mentioned by other guests, the trade-off for the great central location is the noise of people on the streets until late in the night. If you need absolute silence, to sleep then this isn't the place for you. The mattress was way too hard for both of us - it was comparable to sleeping on a camping mat on the floor. 2 nights was the maximum I could have slept there.
A great central location with a nice room with plenty of space incl. a breakfast table in the room as well as in hallway in front of room. Check-in worked well, the staff was very helpful. Breakfast was fabulous- more than enough to take a snack with you for later in the day, with a different selection on both days.

United KingdomThere were guys shouting in the street in the middle of the night. I didn’t know what time it was because I was asleep but definitely being waken up by the noise.
The location is good, just opposite to Clerigos Church and Tower. Lots of restaurants and cafes nearby, walkable to other sightseeing areas within 10-15mins.

GreeceBed size and mattress quality should be improved. The Double size bed was less than queen size, and the mattress was pretty hard.
A well maintained property conveniently located in Porto. Adequate facilities, spotlessly clean. Efficient communication with the host. Highly appreciated early checkin. Although we stayed during christmas vacation, we didnt have any noise issues.

United StatesIt didn't have a common area and kitchen and the after hours check in instructions weren't very clear and accurate, so we still had to call the front desk person, who of course did take our call a d helped us out over the phone. I think it would make his life easier if we got better instructions and didn't have to bother him late at night.
Comfortable and clean and right outside the old town. Great value for your money

GermanyBecause you are in the center of town the environment is noisy. Know you have to decide to get some fresh air or you cancel the noise by closing the windows.
Very nice landlady, helped me a lot, especially at check in after I have lost my cell phone Rooms are a bit small but very clean, the mattresses were very hard just as I liked it. You are in walking distance to most of porto's sightseeing highlights I would definitely book it again

RomaniaWe had two single beds instead of a double and the blanket was only half covered with a sheet (the blanket which is used by everyone).
The location of the property is great, right in the city center.

GermanyThere are several rooms in an apartment. Each room is separated from the others so you have your own private space. The rooms were clean and comfy. Communication was easy. The apartment is located in the city center, so be aware that it can get crowded and that it can be a bit loud at night times. You can't blame the hosts for that! To the contrary, they provide you with ear plugs in case you need them. Can recommend the place!

FranceThere are many road closures or other inconveniences due to the pink line "metro" works. No A/C in the room, it can be wery hot in summer in Porto. You cannot leave window open because the street is very noisy (there are too many drunk (or junkie ?) people shouting at night).
Very well located, near the "Porto Metro". Easy contactless access with keys in a safety box. A part of the fridge reserved for this room. 5 minutes from the nearest supermarket. 10 to 15 minutes walk to the river.

SingaporeNo major issue. Some minor things to take note: Need to make a small detour to the accommodation due to the construction outside Sao Bento Train Station. May hear some noise from people talking or walking pass on the street below our accommodation (at level 2) at night. It will be better if the shower area has a shower curtain to prevent water from splashing onto the floor of the dry toilet/basin area. Air from portable aircon in the room does not smell good so we did not use it and left the window slightly open for ventilation as the air outside was cool. Good to have a standing fan or ceiling fan in the room.
Location is excellent, near Sao Bento Train Station, eatries and places of interest. Room and bathroom are spacious, clean and comfortable.

United KingdomDue to the location (which is great) the noise is present. The star left some ear plugs if we wish to use. For those that sleep very well, there is no problem at all. I slept properly in a nice bed with some street noise but nothing outrageous!
Location was great for train and metro (underground) and also buses. The room was very good and bright. Shower room was modern and cleaned. Very good shower There is a Nespresso machine and you just buy the capsules as you wish - just perfect! Communication between the owners and guests is very 👍

United KingdomThe lighting in the bathroom was very poor, and the sink glaze had a large, fine crack in it. It was nice to be provided with some tea and coffee but this wasn't replenished. It was a shame there was no lift as I struggled to get my large suitcase upstairs. My friend was in another room - we suspected that with the location of the accommodation being near the university (especially as it was graduation week) that it might be a bit noisy, but we were both kept awake by people shouting in the street outside (beware of visiting the second week in May!) and by a mysterious vibrating noise that went on much of the night on two of the three nights.
The location was good, close to shops, bars and restaurants, and the room was clean and comfortable.
