I had been allocated a low level room, with no view, only trees! Happy to feedback that this was rectified by reception really quickly. Unable to use the spa for last two days due to maintenance. Both indoor and outdoor pools needed cleaning, had a lot of debris so did not use.

Fabulous Team, always warm and friendly, it was great to be back .. loved the Poncha Workshop, it was good fun and enjoyed attending the all aboard welcome drinks evening and greeting the general manager.

We were invited to a meet and greet with the hotel manager, which we was a really personal touch. All the staff were very warm and welcoming, a credit to the hotel.

All aspects of our stay were extremely good. I wish that we had had a drawer in our bathroom, as I had to leave all our toiletries spread about the surfaces. And a bin in the main room would have been nice.

Restaurant : we visited Sao Joao because an ex-colleague had recommended the Quinta. Throughout our stay, the level of empathy across the staff was exceptional. One night of our three nights, we ate in the restaurant. The delicious food was undoubtedly the best of the three evening meals that we experienced. It was presented with flair and the restaurant staff once again demonstrated real warmth.

There was a problem with the air conditioning in our room (#107) all week , we understand though that it was a new system.

Rooms were very large and comfortable, the complimentary fresh bottled water each day was a nice touch. Courtesy mini bus to and from the centre was useful. All the staff were very helpful and pleasant. The breakfast selection was exceptional as was the standard of food, so well in fact, that we decided to use it all week for our main meal in the evenings off of their a la carte menu.

The spa had a very limited selection of massages available. The staff member we spoke to wasn't overly helpful. We didn't particularly like the food, dinner the first night wasn't great so we only had breakfast from then on. Coffee was undrinkable every morning. Cold buffet was Ok, not that extensive and no changes from day to day. We tried the cooked breakfast twice and again not impressed

Staff were very friendly and helpful. Good location, short walk into town ( steepish hill). Our room was comfortable. Hotel was very quiet, fully booked but hardly ever saw anyone else.

The hotel has an inexplicable out of character meanness when it comes to tea bags for your room, limiting them to 2 a day and expecting you to pay if you ask for more!!!

Didn't realise that spa facilities, ie, sauna, jacuzzi were extra cost, so when staying for 9 nights would have been nice to have a voucher to use the spa at least once included

One of our best hotel experience so far. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, the hotel has a gorgeous park and a very calming athmosphere. Breakfast was extreamly good, lot of local food and fruits. We just loved it.

The hotel is up the hill so we mostly used a taxi to get to the shops and restaurants.

The breakfasts are excellent and the staff very helpful about catering for vegans and lactose free requirements but better to note it on your booking. There are however steps to the bar and inside pool which could be difficult to use .Beds were comfortable

An absolutely beautiful hotel that feels very luxurious. The rooms are huge, most have a balcony overlooking the incredible tropical gardens or the bar area - but there is never any noise. Very peaceful. The staff are just fantastic - so friendly and genuinely nice. Breakkfast is great - both cooked and buffet

staff were phenomenal, always happy to help, with great ideas for what to do and where to go. Some superb restaurant recommendations (thanks Pedro!); service with a smile in the restaurant (Filipe, Mathias!); some fab cocktails at the bar (Antonio). amenities clean, the pools are clean and well kept, and it’s only a short (if hilly) walk into town.

After booking the hotel we were notified some time later that work was ongoing to replace the aged Aircon system. Totally understood the need for this and was reassured by the hotel that disruption would be negligable. Did not expect however that the room that we booked would not have functioning AirCon. We were offered a Fan by reception, but sorry, it's just not the same. Had to request firmer pillows as our originals were thin, tired and lumpy. These were quickly changed. The Pool areas , balconies and the walls of the Central Garden area that you look out onto when dining could do with a bit of a revamp. A lick of Paint to the Balconies and Garden wall wouldn't take long and would make quite a difference to the ambience. The Indoor Pool in particular could do with a good scrub and some tile replacement and grouting. We understand that there is a big push to sort all these issues, so hopefully future attendees will see the difference.

The staff were on the whole very good and always were able to help with any queries. Have to say the Reception Staff could do with an extra smile or two now and again. Breakfasts were excellent. Great choice of Continental or cooked foods. The bar area remains a highlight. Lovely space.

No aircon in room (this we were advised was in process of being updated throughout the hotel) not too much of an issue in April but wouldn't want to not have it in Mid summer.

Really lovely old style hotel with plenty of indoor seating area, nice bar with piano player in evening (history was it was originally some sort of manor house). Small but nice Gardens, good sized room with balcony and super king comfy bed, excellent staff ( very friendly and couldn't do enough for you without being OTT) . The buffet breakfast was excellent (even a glass of bubbly if you wanted it!!) all the usual cereals, cheers, hams, fruits, pastries etc etc and then a great selection from the cooked section.
